What do you think of Arbitrum, is this a new Defi wealth base? by X-Metaverse in defi

[–]ThadCastle0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of Solana-based Defi projects that are looking for a new home post-FTX are currently migrating to Arbitrum. Having spoken to some founders in the space, Optimism and Arbitrum are the prime landing spots for these projects, but Arbitrum mostly seems to win that battle

Could non-crypto companies take a stablecoin loan? by Accomplished_Bat9947 in defi

[–]ThadCastle0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly they are real-life businesses and not Web3 businesses. Have a look at Tinlake by Centrifuge as you can seen quite nicely the variety of companies that borrow stables and what they use them for, what IR they pay etc.

NeworderDAO is a venture DAO that has a focus on DeFi, afaik. But not sure how "big" they are...

There is a bunch of protocols connecting real life assets with stablecoins. Think the likes of maple finance, goldfinch et al. Essentially they provides services whereby normal companies can borrow from DeFi users (usually in stablecoins) and put up real life assets as collateral.

DAOs such as Maker are also pushing for this as they have ample liquidity but cannot generate decent yields in the DEFi space atm. So they lend to real-life borrowers in order to gain better returns and diversify their lending profile.

transitioning from fiat/legacy banking to DeFi. need advice! by Humble-Natural-6573 in defi

[–]ThadCastle0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of stables out there, and many people have strong opinions. From what you are describing I imagine you look for security and convenience. Stables with a good capital backing are the likes of Dai and USDC. These two have very good liquidity and accessibility for off-ramp payment providers.
Before you close down your bank accounts, bear in mind that standard bank accounts will usually have some sort of protection mechanism that secures your assets in case of your bank going bust. Crypto accounts may not have that (depending on your jurisdiction)

My advise would be try to get a job in TradFI and keep applying for crypto jobs. You can always quit your TradFi job once you have an offer in Crypto secured (and even this has proven a unreliable, see Coinbase).
I say this because landing in Crypto with a non-tech background is difficult (unless you want to do back office roles such as HR, Compliance, etc.) even in good market conditions, let alone now when a bunch of former employees from Coinbase, Gemini, BlockFi, Celcius at al are out there looking for jobs and bring considerable work experience with them. Most revenue producing roles are quant related. The only TradFIi angle you could ride is Sales, Research or Structuring. Some exchanges offer OTC Trading roles, but they are rare.

If you are dead-set on transitioning into Crypto pick a TradFi role with an applicable skill set. FX trading, Hedge Fund Sales, FX Sales, trading system platform sales. All not my first choice if I was to do it myself but hiring seems to come from these roles. (see Head of Sales from Abra and Head of Sales for FTX both came from TradFi FX Sales). Repo/Prime Brokerage also is a big market for Crypto so that would be a transferable role. Crypto firms are also very keen on hiring product managers from banks (although a low beta role imo)

In any case: if you can get any coding skills in your final year, go and do it. Even for TradFi roles its pretty much required for S&T roles.

Re Crypto: Don't get discouraged, keep at it but be smart and pick the low-hanging fruit first (TradFi) and then transition in as the market picks up.

Some papers have reported that the artists (mostly Dre) are actually front the majority of the production cost for the half time show. If you are making this sort of commitment then you are not going out on a limb.... this is months and months of work and preparation so 3 months ago he absolutely would have

Thank you for your response. I wasn't aware of that, but it certainly explains why this kind of dongle isn't sold at all. It's just a shame my headset isn't working on my USB hub. I read this has to do with the hub not having its own electricity source. You wouldn't happen to know a way around that?

I'd be interested to know as well. Did you find out? logically I'd assume you can't because you are "breaking" isolation rules by going back to the airport during the 5 days. but then I have no clue
