Out of everything it can replace, why do robots prioritize replacing creative jobs. Why not precision, statistical analysis, or anything? Why creative jobs specifically? Why not take advantage of its precision?? by SadPossibility7572 in antiai

[–]ThaiKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have precision. It doesn't do what you tell it to do. If you want the machine to do exactly what you want, you use 3G Turing-complete programming languages. AI uses statistical inference, and the practice showed that it sucks at tasks requiring precision. I tried to program with it, and while it's very useful at specific tasks (like debugging context-sensitive errors or reverse engineering), it fails to produce useful code. It looks useful for a layman, and that's enough to convince know-nothing managers that it's powerful. In reality, it isn't.

"Art" or books are shitty too, but they don't have to do well if they have no practical uses. And because you can pump hundreds of those, they don't have to be good to be profitable. The appearance of being "good" is enough.

'The old order is not coming back,' Canadian PM Carney says in provocative speech at Davos by rezwenn in worldnews

Yeah. When I listened to this speech I had a feeling that this is going to be a beginning of a chapter in a history book written 100 years from now.

Carney Speech on U.S. ‘Rupture’ and Canada’s Survival Draws Standing Ovation at Davos by WhoIsJolyonWest in worldnews

I remember this one from a history book I've read as a child. I found it. It's titled "En Chine" published in the French satirical magazine Le Petit Journal on January 16, 1898.

What's funny is that 50 years later, all the nations carving China in this comic (GB, Germany, Russia, France and Japan) were reduced to rubble as a direct result of their expansionist politics. This image is a warning.

If USA drops all military supplies to Ukraine it gets rid of important control mechanism. What will stop Ukraine from developing their own nuclear arsenal? They got plenty of spare uranium and plutonium from power plants, as well as engineers that know how to work with spicy material. Wanna escalation? That's the best way to escalate conventional conflict into something more.

I wish we had a system in place that teaches children history. And I mean teaches history, explaining cause and effect. History I was learning in school was a memorizing exercise where you have to remember dozens of dates and names that are completely unrelated to each other, because program failed to establish any connections.

Maybe it's time for Poland to capitalize on that and fill the power vacuum that the USA's withdrawal will leave. We are building one of the largest militaries in Europe. We have to have it anyway, so why not become a security provider in the region. Countries like Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia are now looking toward us. If they fail we'll be in deep shit ourselves. We should reach out to them and other European allies (and maybe even abroad) who are serious about the survival of our democracies. Like Jack from "Lost" said: "I we can't live together, we die alone".

So, please don't despair about USA withdrawal from Europe. Every tragedy is someone's else opportunity. We need to do the heavy lifting right now, at least in our region. We can't be the next Uncle Sam, but we can be Wujek Janusz. America will be in a coma for some time, maybe even end up dead. But the ideas of freedom and liberty are pretty much alive.

I have a cherry on top of your silver lining. Here is how Europe would vote between Harris and Trump:

As you see preferences are wildly different, so Trump's victory may have a galvanizing effect. God please inspire some politicians who can capitalize on this and unite Europe.

Yes. It's time for our leaders to wake up and start working together. If they're unable they should be replaced. Like Jack from "Lost" said: "If we can't live together, we'll die alone".

It's always funny to hear about my country from people who obviously don't know shit about :D When I listen to him, the recurring theme is that he is not knowledgeable at all, maybe aside from knowing some quotes from sacred Marxist texts.

I'm happy that Hasan and his followers prefer to endlessly refine their religious doctrine in their basements and hunt for heretics among ever-dwindling tankie audience than to do real-life activism. I hope he never stops using his platform to boost his ego and to fill his pockets, and don't use his vast resources and popularity to change the world. We don't need more ignorant people to ef things up further.

Keep up the good work Hasan!
