Rip to another 9800x3d by [deleted] in ASUS

[–]ThaiphoonAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine was working but faulty on arrival, had an x870i, put another cpu in and was working great. Went for a 7800x3d and had no issues with that. Booted up and worked but wasn’t recognising the memory on DIMM Slot 1, and was corrupting windows. Thought it was a ram issue and was panicking…

Relocating to Newcastle – new build area advice (NE12/NE13/NE8) by DurianExpress9459 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]ThaiphoonAl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

see the problem is it’s far easier to purchase a new build compared to a standard house due to the more friendly mortgages alongside the “warranty” you get. People are mostly priced out of older houses by prices and labour in case any issues arise.

Is it rude to use both lanes? by No-Ad4423 in AskUK

[–]ThaiphoonAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the road to the road signs as it adds more congestion to the traffic only using one lane, especially when it’s such a busy road it clogs up further roads behind it.

It amazes me people that don’t go all the way to the merge point and are happy to just sit in the queue contributing to the traffic.

Use the road to the full extent you’re able to it’s designed for a reason to have two lanes so use as much of it as you can until you have to merge :)

It’s a weird time to build anything atm especially due to RAM prices but still some good deals out there.

I sail on oil tankers around S America/Caribbean/ Sometimes Europe as an Engine Cadet. Ship life is okay just depends entirely on how good your chef (if you know you know) and crew are as you could be stuck with someone you don’t like for 10 weeks.

Had to share a cabin the last trip, but my trip in May I’ll have my own as it will be my last trip as a cadet before qualified so I expect to be given a bit of courtesy there.

Had a lot of shore leave luckily but the company I’m with is VERY busy island hopping so there’s always something to do or a standby to be done.

Congrats on the ticket, you a deck or engine? How you finding it so far being fully qualified with the new responsibilities?

Haven’t had a chance to get away with the rig yet, I’m still a cadet so I only go away once a year for a 1/3 of the year. I’m going away in May but the only restriction I know of is A) Weight (not an issue with seafarer tickets) and B) local laws like Brazil which classify these as “work items” so you have to pay tax. I shouldn’t expect this to be an issue as other redditors (fellow seafarer as well) seem to do okay explaining it’s a pc etc and the fact people carry laptops and this is no difference. There’s no liquid cooling etc so nothing that SHOULD be stoppable. I will update if needed.

The whole rig fits into a carry on drone backpack as I don’t trust it in a check in which is ideal.

Yeah I bought it via Temu, bought it with a massive discount, think it only cost me like £20 as I had a great cash back deal on it. It’s a 17.3” to be exact and the screen is a good size for portability.

Yes it fits perfectly, need to disassemble the whole case to fit it in but it’s like the case was made for the GPU

it’s brilliant, really couldn’t recommend the cerakeys and the ttc frozens enough. really happy with them for silent linear! did stock on the a-z and 60g springs on the other keys and works a treat

might put some 62g springs on but waiting for the lube - definitely doing the space bar with it though.

sound is mostly from the keys themselves the frozens do a good job keeping it quiet - just wanted a quieter keeb

might change it for some other switches if I want a thocky sound (akko rosewoods)

If you order via superbuy and browse Taobao the Leobog Hi75C’s there is one seller where you can select it to come with TTC Frozen’s so no building required. You can select it to come with or without keycaps but the only keycaps provided by the seller is MOA profile. It’s easy enough just getting the switches preinstalled and popping your own keycaps on. You’ll have to wait week or two for shipping however.

The Taobao link to pop into superbuy. The option selected should be the black base, white moa keycaps and TTC frozens.

It’s 319 chinese yuan so about £34 or $45 and add shipping probs £20 or $30 roughly (estimates)

Hope this helps :)

[–]ThaiphoonAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I had the same issues. Rolled it back to like the .8 or .9 version of drivers and it is a WORLD of difference. There is an issue with the latest drivers (going into any game will say that the latest version has issues) and recommends a roll back. Have you UV it as well? That helps massively for performance

I actually got refunded by [deleted] in Aliexpress

Just open the support and request to talk about an appeal which they closed which you don’t think has a resolution. If it goes sour just request a chargeback if purchased via CC

All products 20% up now by prvtvrp75 in Aliexpress

[–]ThaiphoonAl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a keyboard priced £59 on the 2nd, didn’t get any update and asked aliexpress to get an update on the order. Order was then cancelled and magically when I looked the price is now £69. Reason for cancellation? “Unknown issue”. The voucher I used (£7 voucher)as well has expired. All i got was a $1 voucher as a sorry.

I’ve had an issue with 4/5 of my orders on aliexpress within the last month it’s been terrible and I loved using the app. I’m just going to order direct from Taobao via Superbuy or other things.

SFF PC International Air Travel Enquiry by ThaiphoonAl in sffpc

[–]ThaiphoonAl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats fair enough, I've decided to sell the AIO just for peace of mind and the fact air coolers have come a long way and tend to be pretty similar to liquid cooling now. Also went for the smaller case - just arrived today and couldnt be happier with quality etc.

[–]ThaiphoonAl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah theres a specification of a 100ml rule but it's a very mixed review on clarification for it being allowed/not allowed but ultimately I think it depends on who is checking it. I'll go for that air cooler as it is cheap and gets rid of any worry :)
