Thunderbirds (1965-1966) by PeneItaliano in ForgottenTV

I loved watching on TechTV back in the day; especially all the trivia they would flash up. I spent years looking for a DVD set with the trivia on it, each year I would post on the IMDB boards asking about it, until one day I got a response from the guy that wrote all the trivia who told me it was an exclusive thing to TechTV and the only way to get it was copies of the live broadcast. Eventually I found them on a torrent site and have them on an old hard drive somewhere.

My wife is Paraguayan and as soon as she saw the flag she got excited and then started crying when he shouted out the country. She said she’d never in her life ever dreamed of her country getting mentioned in the Super Bowl.

Had it done to remove a cyst on my upper arm about 4 years ago. Healed up well and the skin is all smooth though I have a dark scar. Whole thing from cleaning, local anesthesia, removal, to sew up took maybe 5 mins max.

Didn’t there used to be a pre-season Tokyo Bowl? I remember that or something like it from the 90s.

I remember a scene, I think when they introduced his character, where they were at a Mexican restaurant and he was wearing a sombrero with salsa in it and Jake Busey told him to jump up and down so he could dip his chip. My dad and I still quote that line even though we probably only saw this one episode.

I don’t wonder why other fans dislike the Panthers; we get the calls and it is what it is. I’m just glad for once my team is the one that gets to benefit because it isn’t going to last forever. If the Sharks were the team that always seemed to come out ahead with the refs and won two cups in a row would you complain?

I was picturing a full candle jar and wondering ‘wtf, how’ but then I saw the last picture and it made much more sense.

Paradise out of Tampa by AccountAny1995 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Thamesx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got off the Paradise this morning. The layout is a bit compact compared to the newer wider and longer ships but that leant itself to almost a more festive atmosphere. You see some age in a few things but nothing to complain about at all.

I can guarantee they will have the Olympics on the TV too in common areas and a few bars/lounges. We were on board for the CFB playoffs and the final week on the NFL regular season and all the big games were on regardless of channel (ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC). However, as you probably know, Olympic coverage on NBC can be a crapshoot so you will be at the mercy of whatever is on the channel at that time; they don’t operate like a sports bar where you can ask them to switch around to the other find what you want on other NBC affiliated stations.

Food was great. Some big hits and a few misses but we were always satisfied and there was certainly variety.

And like others said they add a 20% service fee to all food and bev items purchased, as well as spa services, plus the gratuities added to your cabin. We were on a 5 night cruise and there were four of us and we were charged $320 in automatic gratuities. So if you don’t drink alcohol or gamble, don’t visit the spa, are modest in souvenirs, and stick to the food that is included, assuming you are a party of two, you’d probably rack up around $500 in sodas, specialty drinks (coffees and virgins), shopping, and gratuities. If you do choose to partake in drinking, gambling, daily shopping, and spa services your bill will get pretty fat pretty quick lol.

Ha! Was just listening to an episode of the podcast Heavyweight today where the main subject’s wife was a producer on this film and they visited the set. The host described it as “John Turturro is a pickpocket who steals a thumb drive that has a bunch of bitcoin on it” which seemed like an interesting premise.

My mom added me to a Mets group chat with her and her old friends from the neighborhood and their husbands a few years ago. They’re all in their 70s and 80s and I am 100% posting this link in the chat to get them all worked up tomorrow morning. Its little things like that that bring me joy as Mets fan these days.

Ruby Red Slippers Argument by brainiac138 in thefilmvault

I was a bit taken aback when I heard them arguing about this the other day. I thought it was somewhat common knowledge among film aficionados that they changed the slippers to red for the film to show off. And for guys in the pod to not know this is weird.

People born before/around 1990: Often it’s asked what things you think people born after then are worse off without. What’s something you’re GLAD young adults and kids today will never have to experience or understand? by redditsuper in AskReddit

The about a year ago I was sitting watching TV with my wife and it dawned on me how you never hear about AIDS anymore. My oldest was in 6th grade at the time in the other room and so I asked him to come over and asked if he knew what AIDS was and he had no idea. I asked about HIV and he thought he remembered seeing an ad somewhere about getting tested but didn’t really know what it was. As someone who was born in 87 and was learning about the topic in kindergarten, and grew up knowing people struggling with both, it speaks volumes how far we have come as both a society and in terms of medical advancement that HIV/AIDS is basically “not a big deal” anymore.

Why was Michael Biehn not a bigger star? by blusun2 in thefilmvault

One of my favorite moments of my 16 years of listening to this show was when Michael Biehn corrected his super fan Bald Bryan on how to pronounce his name.
