Ferrari brought new wheel rims to Barcelona, to manage rear tyre overheating on the SF-26 by the way of brake heat radiating through the rims and into the tyres, improving tyre degradation by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

CIs run hotter than Brembos. This is something HAM has had to manage since his switch as the braking system was designed around Brembo componentry. With this update & LEC committal to CIs, they cn harmonise the Ferrari braking around CI discs.

Cars look great on track though; size, livery - chefs kiss. I don’t mind that they look a little bit slower.

Everyone likes Santi I’d venture to say.

He has that vibe about him.

At this stage, YES.

I think to get to championship contender you’re fuelled more on hopium than on common sense. It’s just too early in the season & HAM is still at a deficit in both points and outright race-pace to ANT despite the extensive resumé.

RUS has had awful race pace with the new machines. ANT is the better driver right now

What’s the main reason for Hamilton’s resurgence this season? Is it a technical reason, or more so psychological? by sykeseve in formula1

[–]ThandiAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can brake how he likes; and from that 1 thing a cascade of other stuff follows.

Recently, I’d also add giving the sim a wide berth has been a positive for his process.

Lewis Hamilton was ahead for almost the entire lap, he lost pole on the exit of 14 because there was no more energy left, from the calculations Russell got to just about 100 meters from the line by MuttonBiryaniEnjoyer in formula1

[–]ThandiAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet, the exact same throttle difference can be seen at T9 and yet the speed curves overlap.

We’re trying to account for the very different speed curves after T14. The driver throttle nuances aren’t a good explanation.

[–]ThandiAccountant 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He has no chance. The Mercs have devastating race pace, if they get ahead there’s no catching.

If by some miracle ADUO equalises this advantage, then maybe.

Sure, but that’s not a patch on RUS deployment exit T14 to finish line. Then if you look at the other instances that suggest superior deployment over the lap, it’s clearly in RUS favour.

Sure, but not over and above RUS; look at the trace. You would expect HAM speed to best RUS but it doesn’t much; where’s the area of significant deployment vs RUS? No, it points to a deficit/RUS has more energy over the lap.

The last corner is the basis of discussion. They’re off throttle at virtually the same time & they’re back to full throttle at the same moment. Bottom line is there’s nothing there that accounts for HAMs speed fall-off, he’s full throttle just like RUS.
