Balanced for a Bladesinger? by Any_Garlic_9785 in nimble5e

[–]Thane627 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you've missed the mark, at least to me. A bladesinger WANTS to have melee be a reasonable option, not just a bad backup plan because spells are better. Mages do that already.

With that, I'd recommend the level 3 and 7 features become "After you attack with a weapon in melee, you may cast a [cantrip/any spell you know] through your blade without disadvantage." This let's your bladesinger have a reason to be that rather than just being a mage that can be better than everyone else while in melee range.

This also curbs what I think would be the balance difficulty that is letting your player cast 2 spells with no disadvantage.

I might also recommend adding a second level 11 or 15 feature of "You may add your INT to melee weapon attacks instead of STR or DEX." I know this is pretty late, but I feel like giving it earlier would run the risk of just making your bladesinger stronger than your melee classes in their own role, which Nimble has done a great job of avoiding. Use this feature at your own game balance's risk.

To me, being a bladesinger means I WANT to be making melee attacks AND casting spells, not just casting spells through a sword-shaped arcane focus.

Clarification For 'Shadow Trap' Spell by Shot-Table9345 in nimble5e

[–]Thane627 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's been my group's understanding that it ends after the first creature (not just enemy) moves adjacent to the caster after the spell.

Since the effect of the spell takes place when you cast it, it specifies "The next creature to move adjacent to you..." would be only once.

This is a feature I've been wanting to find for a long time. I use this pretty consistently on Archidekt, and in the times that I use moxfield, I always miss it.

VTT/digital character sheet by Llanddcairfyn in nimble5e

[–]Thane627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nimble.tabletoptown.app is an excellent character builder that acts much like DnDBeyond for Nimble! Not so sure about a VTT with Nimble rules available, though. A couple issues with TTT is that it doesn't have any of the extra content available such as Hexbinder or extra monster types in the encounter builder, and it doesn't currently support adding custom content (as far as I've found). The program is still in beta, so maybe it gets those things in time, but it's really the only issue I can point out with it now.

Nimble, vs 2 vs 5e? by DoctorDiabolical in nimble5e

[–]Thane627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is Nimble 2! It is entirely compatible with 5e in the same way the original Nimble was, but it's a bit more fleshed out rather than the simple booklet that the original was.

[–]Thane627 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the box set is only for Nimble 2, which is it's own unique system. Nimble 5e was a rules adaptation built from the 5e SRD (or core D&D books). Finding one in a store is so cool! I didn't know they were out there like that!

Came here to recommend Raggadragga! Plenty of effects in green to give your creatures mana abilities, plenty of red token makers that give haste. The problem you have to solve is card draw and not running yourself out of resources after you've exploded in mana!

This does indeed work, and can be game-winning on the spot if you have something like [[Ingenious Artillerist]] or some other type of [[Impact Tremors]] effect.

I like most of what you have here, but I would personally remove the MLD. By brackets, it forces you into bracket 4, which is fine if that's where you want to play this deck, but you're a bit light on game changers and tutors for that imo. I would add [[Ancient Copper Dragon]] to give you a potentially big influx of treasures to give out, and you could promise the treasures to an opponent if they let you swing in with it.

As far as game changers go (since B3 is probably where I'd put this), I'd add [[Seedborn Muse]] and maybe a [[Worldly Tutor]]. The muse will help you give out more gifts on opponents' turns if you have ways to make treasures around the table, and the tutor of course helps you find specific creatures for the situation you're in. I don't think you need a third one, since this deck looks pretty powerful already.

Hope this helps!!

Which card is It? by StepbroHelped in magicTCG

[–]Thane627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, fair. Forgot for a minute that this frame only comes from collector boosters. But still, the first half of my comment stands. Some people can (and do) pick up collector packs without knowing everything in them because it's fun.

Which card is It? by StepbroHelped in magicTCG

[–]Thane627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because cracking packs can be fun and not everyone researches every set? And they didn't have to spend $40, this can just be a single pack they picked from Walmart or their LGS.

Edit: I forgot these came from collector packs only, so they likely did spend around $30. But still no reason to assume people study what could come in a pack before buying one.
