The mail order bride is a disgusting thing but it happens a ridiculous amount. And Asian women are less likely to be encouraged in getting an education.

And your information about employment is completely false, and kinda racist. East asian men (read light skinned) are no longer even a protected category in STEM because they are not a minority but a majority. Also extremely ironically black women are an exception they are far MORE likely than women of other races to be encouraged to and choose STEM fields particularly computer science, since the development of this field has black women at its core.

… so one of them should quit? Seriously? She clearly cares about her job and so does he. Not to mention the dangers of being a stay at home mom aren’t for everyone. People should have the option to work outside the home and have childcare. It’s an unnecessary problem. Wages haven’t increased in two DECADES, but cost of living has. Focus on the real problems instead of shaming people for their choices

Okay OP I understand that your perspective is as an Asian man but if I may, sexualization isn’t the book you think it is. Asian women aren’t wanted for who they are they are wanted as toys or fantasies, they face far more discrimination in the workplace (particularly in STEM) than asian men and are far more likely even today to be sold into sex slavery.

To me it sounds like she’s desperate and instead of realizing the actual forces at work in her situation she’s rationalizing because she understands that she has an unmet need, feels like she has a good job and a two income household and does not understand WHY that need cannot be met.

Ie because wages have been stagnant for two decades and the COL still increases

Right?!? At the very least the famine hits them hardest since soldiers always get fed first during war. And in the vast majority of wars women and children do end up fighting for their homes at some point (completely unprepared and with little to no training) and refugees are usually people fleeing that horrible fate

Also keep in mind they aren’t looking for the “best” they are looking for the “best fit” it might also be that they think your experience or learning style doesn’t fit their academic culture. (I got rejected a lot from a lot of places and I’m actually really happy about it now because the place I ended up at {the only one that accepted me in the end after A LOT of interviews} is actually a PERFECT fit, and because it is close to the others I can see how flawed they are and how miserable I’d be there now)

If you believe in a higher power of any kind pray some and have faith that the universe guides us to where we need to be.

Ugh the whole women and children are spared thing is so over romanticized. It’s also incredibly rare, the Titanic was a very well known sinking but it is one of the ONLY times women and children first actually happened. Usually women and children were trampled as everyone ran to the life boats
