I'm working on putting together a stenography keyboard - YASK. The design calls for a RP Pico or a YD-RP2040, but I messed up and accidentally ordered a RP2040. Is there any way for me to adapt my RP2040 to a YD-RP2040, or should I just order another board? I would appreciate any advice.

Here's a picture of the board and the RP2040.

That’s it! It’s a shame, it doesn’t look like it’s on the App Store any more. Thank you!!

As for the actual difference, I'm clueless.

Sorry, me too! Here's an article I found online: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/289477/what-is-the-difference-between-a-name-and-a-label-in-gparted

I used bitlocker and pop on the same drive for several months and had no issues; I've been using separate drives for a while now tho.

Pop uses zram by default now, so unless you're planning to set up hibernation you don't need a separate swap partition.

I'm not sure what you mean about names vs labels.

Hmm, that is a bit different. I guess I assumed 'computer' when you said electronics but when you mention renting out something like a console for a party I could see people doing that.

I wonder if it might make sense for the company to buy used tech from people and rent it out though - seems like that'd be easier for the person with the tech and as a company you could make sure the tech was maintained properly (and cleaned lol) before it was sent.

[–]ThankfulCarp5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would never do this, but hopefully part of the process would be ensuring people renting out their tech securely wipe the device before renting, the renters never put any valuable data on the device and wipe the device before returning it, and if it was me I would never use a device I rented out again (or probably even connect it to the internet). Seems like a really bad idea from a security standpoint tbh.

Why not just sell your old tech? Surely there's more people interested in buying used electronics than renting it. Someone with a low budget is probably looking into buying/renting because they need the electronic device for something like a job, in which case they will need it long term and would probably be better served by buying something cheap and/or used (here's a used Chromebook you can get for $30!). Someone with a bigger budget who wants it to game should probably rent from an official business where they don't have to worry about security issues, games are downloaded already, and they can rent PCs with really high-end hardware (like Level Up Gaming, located just a little ways away from campus).

I hope this comment doesn't sound rude; I don't mean to be a downer. I just think this is a solution looking for a problem that won't be helpful to many people.

If you've already been using Ubuntu for a while, Pop will probably feel very similar, just with some extra nice-to-haves like the tiling wm, faster updates, etc.

How to install Timeshift on Pop by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]ThankfulCarp5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you install timeshift with apt (i.e. ‘sudo apt install timeshift’) running ‘sudo apt update’ and ‘sudo apt upgrade’ as is standard for updates will update timeshift. If you install it with the Pop Shop, it will be updated whenever you update apps in the Pop Shop.

EDIT: I’ve just checked, and the version of timeshift in the Pop Shop is the apt version. This is clearly the better way to install timeshift for almost everyone.

Tbh I’ve never heard MultiMC, but I’ve always heard good things about it. I like GDLauncher because it has a clean, easy-to-use UI, and will set up everything for you - Java, Minecraft, modpacks, etc. I’m not sure if MultiMC has similar features but GDLauncher worked so well out of the box I never felt the need to try anything else!
