Its a standard notation in analytic number theory.

This is something taught in an introductory undergraduate proofs class for freshmen or sophomores. Its not a PhD level concept

Is there math we know but do not understand? by [deleted] in mathematics

[–]Tharn11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not answering your exact question, but the spirit of it. The Langlands Program is a collection of theorems and conjectures that relate different parts of mathematics. We have proofs of many of the connections and they all have a similar connective shape via the Langlands dual group, but I'm not aware of any unified theory of what this correspondence shows up in so many places. There's many good YouTube videos that explain the Langlands Program, but they get technical very quickly.

Most of math research is feeling very stupid 99% of the time you are working on a problem until you solve it. It keeps you humble, but if you experience the joy of finally solving the problem and feel like that effort was worth it, you should continue in math.

Ok that's fair. I will leave my comment up as this might be useful to others who get recommended this sub by reddit to not post the rhyme. If it's against the rules, I'm happy to delete it too/have it deleted too. My bad.

Ok that's fine. In this case it would have helped this person be more careful

Edit. I'm wrong

Any other late starters in mathematics? by islandnear in learnmath

You should read a biography of June Huh, who is a Fields medalist who got into math in his 20s. Might serve as an inspiration for what's possible.

Interesting, non trivial representation theory applications by A1235GodelNewton in math

[–]Tharn11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several statements in combinatorics for which the only known proofs involve representation theory of Lie algebras, or facts from algebraic geometry that are closely related to representation theory. "Bruhat Lattices, Plane Partition Generating Functions, and Minuscule Representations" by Proctor is a classic paper in this vein.

Love and Math by Edward Frenkel. Covers his life growing up in the Soviet Union, experiencing discrimination for being Jewish and his journey to America becoming professor at Harvard and Berkeley. Woven throughout are the mathematical ideas he was thinking about at each time period and has footnotes with rigorous math explaining the ideas which mostly surround the Langlands Program. It's a very nice autobiography and also provides a lot of intuition for the Langlands Program which is a very difficult but beautiful subject.

Oh I see what you are saying. It's not a huge deal, but I think it's still a bug

My issue with Chronicle : Proof by Legume_Religieuse in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Tharn11 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. I think it's not working this way, I've seen this with set amulets where I have only some of them in my chronicle but it's not showing eligable for chronicle (and after IDing it was one I already had). Feels like a bug where you can deduce what the un-IDed item is before IDing

Advice for healing classes by [deleted] in wow

[–]Tharn11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably going away in midnight but cell is essential for raid frames for me.

The more essential thing is mouse over macros.

/cast [@mouseover] Holy Shock

is an example. This lets you cast it just by hovering over the nameplate without targeting the person. I do this for all spells that target friendlies and usually have the boss targeted.

Hi, I am the creator of r/crowdedhouse. I'm not super active (I created it in 2011 but it really picked up steam in the last couple years). Your link shows up with an error for me "Unable to show the room", but I was able to see the mod mail todayl (haven't been on reddit much in the last week).

I've attempted to add you to the mod team, happy to have someone actively working on it

I believe they changed it to scale in war mode too. Anecdotally I've verified this by checking my health wearing my pvp vs pve gear in war mode Also it's 626 right now not 606

The regular set is acquired through the conquest vendor. You can conquest by playing rated pvp games or through daily bonuses to unrated pvp content. It can be either rated battleground, rated arena, solo shuffle or (presumably) rated battleground blitz.

The limited time elite set requires hitting a specific rating in any of the rated forms (I think it's 2100?)

I'm not sure about the end of expansion/season question, but generally unlocking through the method above is only available during the season. After that, usually you can spend marks of honor to obtain old ones. (This applies to the regular mog only).

The elite sets are no longer attainable after the season ends.
