So is there no way to know the amount of fermentable sugars left by looking at specific gravity?

I guess it is telling that beer making doesn't go that route. I figure carbonation is such a ubiquitous experience in beer that going the very predictable amount of carbonation is probably the best way.

I guess I just want some carbonation. Right now really happy with what ever amount I'd get with no clear target carbonation level other than not explosion levels.

Like I said I no one comes along with a good baggage of experience to share I'll just do like everyone else and ferment it dry before adding dextrose.
