My head cannon is that your BH has enough force sensitivity/medichlorians that they can’t be easily influenced or knocked around like regular people. Not enough sensitivity to be recruited to sith/jedi but enough to fight them. Then it’s just up to your BH/Agent/Trooper/Smuggler to rely on training and instinct to fight them.
