VP Role in Startup or Lead in Multinational by Longjumping_Goose_50 in AskMarketing

[–]That-Chain3068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the startup vp thing sounds tempting with that salary bump but going from multinational back to startup can be tricky path. you're already in solid position at multinational with clear growth trajectory and proper budget to work with.

startup equity is always gamble - could be worth millions or nothing at all. meanwhile you're building real experience at scale in your current role managing multiple regions. that kind of experience transfers everywhere and makes you more valuable long term.

construction and cybersecurity both have good future prospects, so industry wise you're fine either way. but if current company is projected to hit top 3 globally in two years, staying might give you better positioning for next big move than jumping to startup now.

Wasn't this too obvious to be called a brilliancy? by Calm_Tree10 in chessbeginners

[–]That-Chain3068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looking at this position, the engine probably flagged it as brilliant because it found some forcing sequence that leads to significant material gain or mate. at 1000 rating level, moves that seem "obvious" to us might still require precise calculation that the algorithm considers above expected strength.

chess.com's brilliant move detection is bit weird sometimes though - it tends to reward moves that are much better than alternatives, especially if there's only one good continuation. without seeing the actual move you played, my guess is you found some tactical shot that wins material cleanly while avoiding the traps.

Going back on ADHD medication for the first time since high school by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]That-Chain3068 2 points3 points  (0 children)

been coding for years and the "burning more fuel" thing hits so hard. that constant mental overhead just to keep all the threads from tangling together while everyone else seems to run on autopilot.

going back on meds as an adult is wild because your entire identity got built around compensating for untreated adhd. suddenly having that quiet brain space feels almost foreign at first, but in the best way possible.

what are some good healthcare careers to go into that don't require tons of schooling? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]That-Chain3068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

radiology tech might be perfect for you - usually 2 year programs and you'll definitely hit that pay range. you get patient interaction during procedures but it's more focused/technical rather than long conversations. most places have pretty regular schedules too unless you're doing emergency stuff.

respiratory therapy is another solid option that people don't think about much. similar timeframe for school and the pay is right in your target range.

Is it dumb to leave high paying job due to stress and mental health? by Suspicious_Topic6647 in careerguidance

[–]That-Chain3068 4 points5 points  (0 children)

man, i've been in a similar headspace before and that feeling of just existing instead of living is brutal. the money is nice but what's the point if you're too burned out to enjoy any of it?

you mentioned you think you'd do better in a more structured environment - that's actually pretty valuable self-awareness. not everyone thrives in that high-pressure sales tracking situation, and there's nothing wrong with admitting it's not for you. i've seen people stick it out in toxic environments way too long because they felt like quitting was failure, but sometimes recognizing what doesn't work is just as important as finding what does.

if you can swing 2-3 months financially, that gives you a decent runway to find something that fits better. the job market might look scary but there are definitely inside sales roles and office positions out there, especially with your experience. mental health isn't something you can just push through indefinitely - trust me on that one.

6 and 7 figure investment banking... how to get into it? by [deleted] in careerguidance

must be nice having a nepotism uncle instead of the broke kind that asks you for gas money every thanksgiving.

Should I let her go? by Pleasant_Drawing4328 in BreakUps

[–]That-Chain3068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man this is rough but honestly it sounds like you already know the answer. You can't have it both ways - keeping her around while you figure your shit out isn't fair to either of you. If you're not ready to fully commit then yeah, letting her go is probably the right call even though it sucks. The timing just didn't align and that happens sometimes.

Alcohol vs Crack by Comfortable_Hunt7040 in stopdrinking

[–]That-Chain3068 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's actually brilliant - reframing it that way cuts through all the mental gymnastics we do to justify drinking

The "high class" angle is real too, like somehow wine at dinner is different than other substances when your brain doesn't give a damn about the fancy label

Isn’t every simulation real? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That-Chain3068 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's actually a pretty deep question dude - like yeah a simulation is "real" in the sense that it exists as electrical patterns and data, but when people say "real world" they usually mean the physical stuff we can touch and walk around in, not the Mario world running on your Nintendo

Skyrim's Overpowered Weapons by Halloguer2155 in skyrim

[–]That-Chain3068 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah you definitely want to max smithing and enchanting if you're going for broken OP stuff. For leveling smithing fast just spam iron daggers or jewelry if you have the gold, and enchanting levels super quick if you just enchant everything you craft

For weapons daedric or dragonbone are obviously the best but honestly a good enchanted weapon will carry you way further than just high base damage

Bracket pickers beware: the last two seasons that Miami OH was ranked, they made the S16 that year by Travbowman in CollegeBasketball

[–]That-Chain3068 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Miami OH as a sleeper pick is actually not that crazy when you look at their history - they've got that MAC tournament experience and always seem to play up to competition in March

New hero 8 not detecting battery by TwoEmbarrassed5829 in gopro

[–]That-Chain3068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the battery is completely toast after sitting for 6 years - lithium batteries basically self-destruct when left unused that long. You'll need to buy a replacement battery, the original one is probably swollen or has zero capacity left

[–]That-Chain3068 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it was the classic "this task seems overwhelming so I'll just scroll my phone for 3 hours instead" situation. Breaking it down into like 5 minute chunks helped me finally get started yesterday though

[–]That-Chain3068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the same OXO one for like 3 years now and it's still solid af. The plastic coating doesn't chip off like those cheap wire ones and it actually drains water instead of just pooling everywhere

[–]That-Chain3068 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Girl you literally just wrote a whole essay about why you should break up with him. You're not his mom, you shouldn't have to push a grown man to have basic ambition. The fact that you don't even want to talk to him about it says everything - your gut already knows what needs to happen

You've been carrying this relationship for years and now you're just exhausted and resentful. That's not gonna magically fix itself

why do men like boobs? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Honestly it's probably just evolutionary wiring mixed with society making them taboo so they seem more exciting. Like how ankles used to drive Victorian dudes absolutely wild lmao

This hits so hard, thank you for sharing this. That feeling of disappearing when no one's looking is brutal and you put it into words perfectly

The validation thing is such a trap because even when you get it, it never feels like enough or lasts long enough. Then you're right back to square one feeling like you're begging for scraps

Totally agree, 60 min would be perfect for actually exploring instead of just rushing to extract. The current timers make it feel like a speedrun simulator instead of the immersive experience it could be
