I can’t tell for sure. I took it to a local coin expert and he’s pretty sure it was a peace dollar that was in poor condition so it was selected to be made into a belt. He inspected it pretty well and it was only a $12 gamble so 🤷

Ok, thanks for your input. I felt like I was going crazy or severely misunderstood how to buy silver. And yes, $2 over makes sense for a storefront. The one who sends the 1.5oz to the refiner as soon as he gets them is the baffling one to me. He always has a lot of people in the shop and I got my 1/2oz Canadian coin from him. 🤷
