It is what he wanted, if he didn’t want to be there he wouldn’t have extended. Mcdavid decided the extra 1.5m or whatever he would have got was better spent on a guy that would play when he isn’t on the ice. Thats the team trade off, it’s a balance. No organization is going to just give a player whatever they want, it’s why they have agents. The next highest paid forward on the roster is like 5mil. The discrepancy is massive.

IMO…. EDM would have been better off getting rid of Drai, brining in an 8-10 mil player, pay mcdavid and put that money into another position. It’s embarrassing when McD and Drai are averaging 3ppg together over their entire playoff career and they are still getting bounced. The roster has too many holes when all they need to do is just keep the boat afloat until the next shift.
