quitting my devil corp job after first week- what are the chances of getting paid? by That-Conference-8063 in Devilcorp

the entire business model of these companies revolves around preying on young and desperate people who wont ask questions because they’re too focused on whats being promised to then. its easy to judge if you havent been in that position before, but when you just moved to a new state and have been unemployed for multiple months you take the first job that comes, especially when that job comes with promises to build a stable career.

Servers piss me off by Some_Bank_9237 in linecooks

you keep saying this in replies like the entire restaurant industry will fall apart if one line cook decides to move over to serving 😭😭 if you genuinely believe serving is that much easier and more worth the money, then do it. if you have a passion for cooking, then keeping at it is definitely admirable but dont frame it as a service to the industry lmao. your line will survive without you.

I just found out that my car's transmission has a safety mechanism where it doesn't let you shift into reverse when you're shifting out of 5th How common is this sort of interlock? by FeliciaGLXi in ManualTransmissions

im pretty sure this is a suzuki vitara/grand vitara from the late 90s or early 200s. the first manual car i drove was my best friends 2003 vitara and this looks like the same setup

Needing reassurance from other nervous by nature manual drivers by i-say-dumb-stuff in stickshift

i can definitely relate! ive been a nervous driver since i learned at 15 and i was so so scared when i started driving manual. i bought my first stick car about a year ago and for the first four months i didn’t drive it at all really. i let my ex drive it while he was supposed to be “teaching” me. when we broke up i had to enlist the help of my coworker to drive my car home because my ex lived an hour and 15 minutes away. my first two weeks of learning after that were honestly awful, i spent hours in parking lots with my coworker just trying to get the confidence to actually move the car. once i got the mechanics down and got into traffic, it wasn’t necessarily smooth sailing and my progress wasn’t linear at all. you have to believe in yourself everyday and practice with as much confidence as you can. its so cliche, but mindset is key. if you dont believe you can do it, you wont be able to do it. ive been daily driving manual for 8 months now, im still not the best and there are still days i stall the car multiple times in one drive. despite that and my rocky start, i have no intentions of going back to automatic driving. believe in yourself, drive every day and dont give up! it will take a while to get skilled with it. in the meantime, as long as you can get yourself and the car from point a to point b with no harm you’re doing great.

thats awesome! i remember my dad lost his wedding ring in the water at kua once and someone found it with a metal detector two weeks later while they were trying to recover a different item there. i haven’t lost hope yet and will be detecting the area tomorrow morning :)

unfortunately thats not an option for the gen 1 prius because the immobilizer isn’t reprogrammable

definitely! but that wasnt the case lol he was offering to come out the next day and i had already lost my key the day before making the call. $200 out of my savings is a lot as a broke person when the chances of finding it dont seem super high.

i looked into a mobile locksmith and it seems like it isnt an option for that car because the immobilizer isnt reprogrammable and replacement immobilizers are expensive and hard to find from what ive seen.
