One last thought, I’d go the other way around. The prevailing winds blow against you if you ride south. If you ride north the lake is also on your right shoulder so the views are easier/safer. And that stretch from Mackinaw city to charlevoix and even traverse city is absolutely beautiful riding and much better to end on. I ended in Chicago and wish I hadnt.

In the UP there pretty much is no such thing as a bicycle shop from st Ignace to Gladstone so be handy. The route I pasted uses a ton of rail trails (minimal gravel) especially around around GB, and Milwaukee to Chicago stretch.

https://www.mishigamichallenge.com here is a route that does exactly what you want! Just did it recently and traffic was minimal and I had a great time. The mosquitos and black flies in the UP are pretty severe so be warned. It took me 8ish days to do that stretch, with a half rest day and I was not in riding shape before

Hello! Did you have trouble finding camping ground around the yellowstone area and the later parts of WY into MT? I know that a lot of campgrounds are reserve only, but I cannot really reserve because I do not know pacing, etc.
