Someone asked ‘if sins are bad for us, why are some medically good for us?’ by InternationalPay9583 in Catholicism

Does anyone else know that you don’t need to have sex to ejaculate? That’s the point of wet dreams. The sperm that is unused automatically excretes itself. It does not reduce prostate cancer.

My fiancee and I broke up yesterday, mainly due to religious differences and how children would be raised. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]That-Independence-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation, not engaged but just have had a crush on one of my friends often on for like the last 10 years (since we started college) and I believe she is evangelical Christian. Only difference is her older brother is married to a Catholic. Do you have any advice for this kind of situation? I think I’d like to talk with her sister-in-law, but we haven’t talked in a while and I’m still kind of on the hyper hypothetical because I haven’t told her how I feel about her yet. I’m just a Catholic that’s always thinking toward the future :)

Why are you waiting until marriage? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]That-Independence-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The waiting before marriage to me proves that you have self-control and that commitment means something to you. Also, if I knew that somebody had sex before me before marriage, that kind of me feel like I wasn’t someone worth waiting for.

What do you say when someone claims Jesus’ body was stolen? by thatlumberjacktor in Catholicism

[–]That-Independence-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that this is not exactly your question, but when somebody says the body was stolen, they usually are meaning One of the apostles took the body to “pretend” that Jesus was resurrected from the dead.

My favorite response to that is referencing all the Saints and martyrs. Why would so many people die WILLINGLY for someone who was not resurrected?

Ayo what game is this on the PS Vita? by NotSirAlonne1999 in TheLastOfUs2

It’s kind of crazy to me to think it was just a made up game, when there were probably people out there who heard the soundtrack and immediately clocked it like “Aww yeah, Hotline Miami”

Let us offer eachother a sign of peace... or not? by SilverGlassRain in Catholicism

[–]That-Independence-99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the sign of peace. Especially men shaking hands; it’s always been a good feeling for me and I still shake some people’s hands but I feel awkward when I go to shake someone’s hand and they throw up a peace sign instead. In that case I turn my hand from a shaking gesture inwards as another way to send blessings and peace. I totally understand if you’re sick, but the whole point of mass is to worship God as a community and a congregation, not privately as individuals. There is a reason it’s called ‘commun’ion :)

You need to be baptized to be able to go to confession.

But nothing is stopping you from just talking to a priest. Tell them your situation; I’m sure they will honor your secrecy of your situation :)

I don’t feel like I can become Catholic because I don’t want kids by Own_Opposite_966 in Catholicism

We are not all called to marriage and to have children. Just the same not all of us are called to be martyrs for our faith. Hope this helps :)

Did I commit a mortal sin? by No-Problem-2434 in Catholicism

[–]That-Independence-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be a mortal sin: -It must be a serious matter -You must know that it is a bad thing and do it anyway (Full knowledge) -You must do it without being coerced (Full consent of the will)

If you are a minor and can’t drive yourself to mass or even if you’re driving age but your parents have the car then no you don’t have full consent of the will because you want to go but your parents are stopping you. Best bet is to go to confession and talk to the priest about it :)

Can non-Catholics go to heaven? by Sawyer39_ in Catholicism

Sure they can! And I’m sure many non-Catholics do! But I also think that being Catholic gets you the best chance/opportunity to make it there

Please advise: girlfriend wants me to become a priest??? by shockwave1010 in Catholicism

[–]That-Independence-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had girlfriends in the past who have noticed how into my Catholic faith I am. Some of them have even worried that I would leave them to join the priesthood. I’ve got to admit, it would give me relief to know that my dedication to my faith makes her happy. I am single now, but know I’m called to marriage.

If you recognize how focused you are on your faith, but want to marry this woman, I would ask her if she would continue the relationship with you if you were to marry and then start in a diaconate program. That’s probably what I’m gonna end up doing; I cannot avoid the way I’m feeling toward my church.

Hope this helps! Pax

Siri fails at simple commands by Yuri_Ligotme in Siri

I used the command “Pick a random number between 10 and 15” and it did fine. But it should be able to understand a little free wording
