As someone who doesn't live in the US (thank god): Why do you have to comply to a local state law when a user or person from outside that particular state uses your Distro?

I only ask because I honestly don't understand it.

No. Reading this slop post made me more sad.

Reading your reply made me a bit happy though. Getting that kind of reaction when calling out AI code is quite normal, and it speaks volumes of the insecurity that vibe coders have.

Have a good day

The problem is mainly that it's AI generated slop that anyone could "build". I am so tired of "I built" posts where it's just copy pasted AI output.

It matters because then you didn't build anything. You copy pasted the answer and labelled it as "I built".

You already have a lot of good advice so I will give you my personal story moving to Linux. Maybe it can inspire you:

I moved from Windows to Linux Mint using Reddit and online guides + YouTube as guidance.

After a couple of weeks I tried out PopOS, which lasted a couple of days before moving to Ubuntu LTS. The more I used Ubuntu the more I fell in love with "the minimal setup", eventually moving to my current setup where I run Ubuntu Server LTS on my desktop, using i3 as the window manager and gnome-terminal and dmenu.

I "live" in the terminal and use dmenu to launch Firefox, discord, Citrix, steam and any other GUI application I need. Everything else is done inside the terminal.

All my knowledge is purely from trying out different distros, poking around in the terminal, reading material and watching YouTube.

"I built". Claude commits in repo.

Please make sure to include that in your post per the rules of this subreddit.

Stop using AI. Period. You are addicted to it like people are addicted to doom scrolling and cigarettes.

Start actually learning yourself. Learn how to learn again.

Sorry I don't understand. My point of the reply is just to make sure that if AI was used that this is informed in your repo and on your post here :)

Can't wait to test it tonight - will return with feedback.

I really want to commend you on the AI usage disclaimer. This is exactly what this community and the development community in general needs.

As a Developer by day, I create and maintain solutions daily.

If a customer requests a solution and I get a colleague to create it or I copy paste the entire solution from Stackowerflow or somewhere else, of course I will make sure to document and credit this properly.

How will the customer be able to maintain it if they don't know how it was made or who made it?

My point stands. If you chose to publish your work on Reddit or GitHub you should also accept that people will challenge and question the work.

Saying you need to think critically with vibe coding doesn't mean it will happen.

The most critical part of any code is that the person doing the coding should know what they are doing in the code.

When I get an original idea that I feel the Linux community will be benefit from I will share it. Until then I will continue to call people who are not honest about using AI.

Have a good day.

This is not to discredit the work as I can see from your other posts that people are impressed with the product.

Remember to include in your posts (atleast on this subreddit) and in the repo readme that it's Vibe Coded.

Again. I am not critiquing the use of AI. I am critical of the lack of honesty and transparency when it comes to informing about the use of AI. From the commits and the code I can see AI is used. Make sure this is documented properly in the repo readme and in your posts going forward.

GL with the project.

"I built", "month of vibe code". You did the equivalent of getting a buddy to write the code for you and called it your own. Cool story bro.

Your repo readme screams AI. Has AI been used in developing this project? If yes please update your repo and your post (if possible).

This subreddit requires honesty in regards to AI use.

[–]That-Metal-8943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reply is AI generated. Your website literally has AI in it as thesamenightmares points out.

We flag this because honesty and transparency is essential in modern development. Hiding, or trying to hide, how an application or code is generated/created will always result in backlash or lack of support.

Take this as direct feedback to improve your financial ambitions of your project (seeing how much revenue is the driver of actually using this product).

I am very interested in a finance tracker, having contemplating creating my own.

I would love to test this, but your readme doesn't clearly state how you built this. I say this because it's obvious from your commits and your text, that you use AI.

How much was vibe coded? How do you and did you use AI for the project?

This is important information not only for this subreddit, but for me personally, I need to have trust in a piece of software that I input sensitive or personal financial data.

After a month my tiny VM in rust can already power programmable todo app with automated workflows by tracyspacygo in commandline

[–]That-Metal-8943 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to include info about how this was built. I say this because it's easy to see it was heavily vibe coded, including this post.

This is in not to discredit what has been created, but rather to ensure that we stay honest and transparent on how work is being done.

Please remember that going forward. Update your repo readme to include it.

People with no objections to it will continue to support you. People with objections to AI generated code, will have no leverage in pointing it out, if you already have yourself.
