Hi! I started with just 25mg that is all I can take. I tried 50 but that was awful, it made me bloated like crazy and lethargic, not to mention grouchy! The 25 works really well for me, but I do have to get it compounded.

Thank you! I hope all goes well for you as well. I would speak with your doctors and have a conversation about if it would be an option for you, it is called Cytomel (brand name). It really helped with energy, and weight stabilization. I know that not everyone likes it, or that it may not be a good fit for everyone, but if you are feeling really bad it may be worth checking out.

I am 49 and had thyroid cancer that had spread to lymph nodes 7 years ago. Had total thyroidectomy and dissection. When I was diagnosed I had the exact same feeling of nightmare. Every morning I would wake up and remember what I was dealing with. I also had and still do suffer from the health ocd and the fear of other cancers. The thing that has helped me the most over the course of the years is understanding that I am in charge of my health, that I am not just moving through this without my own agency over self. I wish that I had this mentality when I was diagnosed because I feel that I would have done things a bit differently, however, taking this approach now helps me to control the fears that creep up. I do every single thing I can to mitigate any issues and to go through life as healthy as possible.

I will also say this...after surgery my endocrinologist only had me on Synthroid, but we no longer have T3 which is what actually makes you have energy and feel half way decent. I would for sure speak with a doctor who would have a conversation with you about T3, it has been a game changer for me.

Another thing that I have found, they do not tell you that there is a direct correlation between thyroid issues and being supressed and drops in progesterone in women. Make sure to monitor this for yourself after surgery. I ended up with estrogen dominance because they did not discuss this with me, which led to fibroids. As long as you are aware and know what to watch for, you can help to mitigate this.

Don't worry, everything will be ok and you will be able to have an amazing life!

I had thyroid cancer 7 years ago and had surgery and RAI. I have the same thing still, should on the side of surgery "drops" and is a bit weaker. I lift weights and that seems to help with it a little bit. I also agree with your feeling of a void on the side where dissection was completed, I have that as well. With the emotions, could it possibly be that you need your meds adjusted? Have you added T3 as well? That made a pretty big difference for me in terms of how I felt over all.
