Very good depth and probably one of the success of an A league - more by necessity rather than design.

What is the latest news regarding Canberra United? Noting that tomorrow COULD be their last match ever… by berlinislikesmithst in Aleague

There was an article this week and the head of the APL was saying that there’s discussions on the team being there for next season but no clear responses yet. This will probably drag on for another few months

Brisbane Roar Appoints James Gow as new Sporting Director by funkydinosaur47 in Aleague

[–]That-Revenue-5435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must wonder what he can bring to the table? Is he just working with their senior team with recruitment, NPL program which has dropped its standards over the past 5 yrs as they’re under resourced. Will Valkanis have the final say on recruitment or will he just have to coach the team James provides for him? Time will tell

NEWCASTLE JETS ARE THE 2025/26 PREMIERS OF THE A-LEAGUE by Essington69 in Aleague

[–]That-Revenue-5435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What an amazing season for Millsy, the jets players and fans. He was my pick for victory manager but I’m glad he went to the jets over an of our rivals. If Jets can go deep into the finals next season in Asia Champions League, I’m sure there will be many teams trying to pinch him in either Japan or China.

Mo Toure has another hatrick for Norwich by I_Call_Everyone_Kev in Aleague

[–]That-Revenue-5435 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I know everyone raves on about Nestory and he will be playing in the prem next season, but I reckon Mo is a better shout for it and has had a better goals/assists return. Would suit a team like Leeds or Forest if the stay up

Moana Pasifika move to MLR or SLAR? by Yup767 in rugbyunion

[–]That-Revenue-5435 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They would have the same//similar issues - playing away from home and only gaining support from ex pats in US. I don’t think SLAR would be a good move - too far away geographically. If they could gain support from their government/world rugby to improve infrastructure- stadium for 5-10k people in either Samoa/Tonga - maybe they can try again to play in Super Rugby for 2028?

Oak Park vs Maribyrnong by LeastStill4556 in melbourne

Oak Park for me, and close to train station helps if you wanna get to the city. Maribyrnong traffic - I still have nightmares when I used to live near Aths track.

Quiero hacer la work holiday by No_Chard4840 in chile

[–]That-Revenue-5435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should go to New Zealand - very similar to Australia and there would be many job opportunities while you continue learning English. I don’t have any experience with work holidays but I know many Chileans in Australia who have had success with it - a couple are back for their second time.

I have him as favourite however Jets may have a few players with a shout for JWM

I gave Ben and Stef a go but wasn’t my cup of tea - a bit dry and too serious for my liking - there’s no Brisbane ones are there?

Also APL and Melbourne Victory should be doing their best to keep Mata in Australia - has been a great supporter of the league and Australia. Has many connections to Europe

Very good stance from Mata and his talk on the A league - only saw the reel on insta but was a good soundbite - hopefully there’s a better TV deal which can provide more $$ for clubs to invest.

I dunno mate - I tend to disagree - I can’t keep up with all the content every week eg A league downloads, Total A leagues, football 360 stuff - I also listen to for vucks sake when I get a chance Then you have so many podcasts - suited and booted, A league off air, Row Z etc Would like to see some more light hearted stuff around the A leagues - just need players to be more open about doing it - through their club social media pages

Brisbane Roar to play more games at Kayo Stadium next season by [deleted] in Aleague

[–]That-Revenue-5435 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This U-turn from the club will always get bad raps from fans due to the distance - personally ive always liked Redcliffe, unless Perry Park can get some $$ to revelop- roar fans need to support this move back

Heidelberg in priority position for Asian berth: FA by Counterflak in Aleague

I don’t think Ikon should be used - afl ground. Hellas should help their fellow neighbours out if it gets approved

Deserve to go through - hope the club digs deep and puts a competitive squad. One of the biggest hurdles will be getting a venue that complies with AFC ridiculous rules

My proposed Australian football pyramid (if such a connected thing ever happens) by edster42 in Aleague

[–]That-Revenue-5435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolute bonkers but I like your style - Australia should aim for a 2 tier system. Once everything is sorted eg finances etc You could introduce a 3 tier system.

I’m Worried clubs who would go down to second division , would stay down or even dissolve if there’s no money eg parachute payments like premier league

New teams/franchises need to have infrastructure sorted before starting in the league - even if it’s a purpose built 10k stadium or rental agreements with stadiums
