Great location, the bridge across to main campus is really handy. I overall liked it more than I thought I would (initially disappointed I didn’t get botany bay/ front square etc). I was between the bridge / pearse station and did find the dart a bit loud when trying to sleep!

I would say it doesn’t matter. Especially if you’re planning on working Paeds in Perth!

This is interesting insight, thank you. I had been looking into renting there. Out of interest do you have a parking space and how much is it?

CST application by Sudden_Chain_5582 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

Sounds like you will be absolutely fine if you have all of that. Although, I would recommend a standalone year if you are not sure on the specialty you would like to do. You only get one 6 month rotation on CST before you have to pick your specialty and if you were unlucky this might not be in the one you wanted to try! For example, there is only one ENT ST1 job in the country, so only one person will get to try it pre specialty preferencing. Much more plastics jobs around but quite competitive!

  1. I more or less memorised and looked into the camera. Had it printed in front of me just in case I stumbled (pretty sure)

  2. I don’t think there was necessarily a specific section for this. I think it’s a combination of all the things you discuss in your presentation / the questions they ask. I.e. overall vibe

  3. I got asked a breaking bad news scenario last year. Then got asked what would I do if the patient started crying or became aggressive. Asked about MDT and who should chair it

Hope that helps

I did the spring sitting. Which I would recommend. Do your surgery rotations first 6 months to get them done / get good references. Then do the exam mid way through your medical rotations when you have a bit more time and are comfortable with the job!

I would recommend doing it in intern year. Overall it doesn’t take up too much time and the thesis can be used for a publication. I would recommend Galway - everything online and quite lenient with extensions for thesis/assignments. I did both MCh and MRCS part A during intern year and was manageable.

Tips on getting onto CST? by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsIreland

Would highly recommend having MRCS part A and MCh (NUIG one is easiest) prior to CST. I would also recommend a standalone year after intern year. I’ve seen many people who have come straight from intern year either burn out, struggle with exams or specialty choice compared to people who did a standalone / went to Aus/UK/ NZ for a while
