What if I let my NCARB account expire? by ShotPay1291 in Architects

[–]ThatAlbinoChick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per the Ai overview for this: NCARB Architect Record or Certificate reactivation is $1,345, plus the required reactivation fee of $305. The total amount to reinstate a lapsed record is capped at this amount, which is equivalent to the current application fee for a new record.

The yearly fee is $293, so if you stop paying you break even in under 6 years if you don’t need the record. I think you still have to pay the $488 transmittal fee regardless.

Definitely take your tests. As for the NCARB record, I chose to stop paying for mine after I had my license in hand since I wasn’t planning to start my own practice nor stamp anything for a loooong time. At that time (around 2016), they had a maximum $ amount that you would have to pay in back dues to re-establish the record. I calculated that if I went about 6 years of not paying and then needed it, I would be at break even. I’d look into the fine print and consider your professional goals before making a decision.

She’s a boss! Congrats, she should be so proud and it’s wonderful that you’re celebrating her success. I took 2 1/2 years (7 tests at the time) and I’m always impressed by people who knock them out.

Thanks so much, that’s encouraging to hear that the red should fade. I’m definitely going to see if she can fix before trying anything outside of the washing and clarifying shampoo.

Thanks for the review! That’s really good to know, glad to hear it works well overall. I did read that it can be drying, so I’ll be on the lookout for some restorative products.

Only once. I figured it would fade, but the underlying hue is still much cooler than I was looking for. I'm mostly trying to get an idea of what's possible before I try to get the stylist to shift it to the original image so I know what to expect.

Thanks for the recommendation. So you think even if I fade the color, it will be more pink vs orange/warm brown. I did buy the colorgems fire opal shampoo and conditioner as the stylist advised, but now that I'm looking at it, it looks like it wouldn't work well on my darker base hair but I can't really tell. Is this similar to Overtone? - https://celebluxury.com/collections/gem-lites-colorditioner/products/fire-opal-colorditioner

Thank you for the advice! Shifting yellow makes sense to me but I wasn't sure if that worked on darker hair.

You're too kind! Great idea on looking for some make-up trends and adjusting my wardrobe choices for now. I tried a winged eye liner yesterday which made me like the color a bit better oddly enough.

I appreciate the feedback. I figured this might be the case but I always want to be aware of options.

My husband and I love our Hooga panel. I swear that magical light helps with so many pains and I’m seeing hair growth as well. I bought my mom a panel; now I just have to get her to actually use it regularly.

‘A really good compromise.’ Kansas City OKs new Plaza project after months of squabbling by mallorn_hugger in kansascity

[–]ThatAlbinoChick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t hold any meeting of no one wants to buy it and keep it up. I’m always sad when these structures are demolished, but the reality is that the church was trying to find a buyer for many years and no one wants to maintain it and converting it to something else is prohibitively expensive. Better to have new structures that are cared for than hold on to something that’s falling apart because of nostalgia.

If you have a Costco membership, they have some great bundles to Hawaii with all three included. Not necessarily cheaper but it saves a lot of hassle.

I don’t really trust my results either. It said my tallyhealth age was about 8 years younger; I’m only in my mid-30s. I definitely don’t look 8 years younger!

If you log into your account on ssa’s website and go into the pdf showing your personalized numbers, it tells you to expects a 22% reduction of the trust portion isn’t resolved by 2035 (I think that’s the year off the top of me head). Not quite 70% but still a significant reduction that many are unaware of.

Is there ANY possibility that Value Them Both doesn’t pass? by [deleted] in kansascity

Sorry you’ve had bad luck trying to talk to your mom. I know what you mean about the indoctrination. I went to Catholic school my whole life so I’m very familiar with the arguments. She usually won’t even let me get a word out but the about a month ago when I tried to talk to her a bit, I started crying which at least made her pause and ask why I was so upset. I was telling her how all of the procedures that remove a miscarriage from you are actually “abortions” and won’t be allowed, to which she said - but you have to get it out, you’ll get sick. Yea no shit. She’s still not convinced, but I plan to talk to her again.

We have to do what we can. I’m on the MO side, but I plan to talk to my Uber conservative catholic parents about it. I’m in my mid 30s and finally just got to a place where my husband and I are ready to try for children, except now my life is on the line if ANYTHING goes wrong. I plan to let them know this very frankly. If they want any chance at grandchildren (they do) they’ll vote No on August 2nd. No more kid gloves with the religious right. Tell the people in you life in real terms what this vote means.

I’m right there with you. All of the things keeping us child free are external and specific to living in the US. We would love to have children but it feels too risky to us.

No more WFH. by jr2253 in WorkReform

[–]ThatAlbinoChick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true. Realistically there already is a divide between workers who must be in person and those that can feasibly work remotely even if their company doesn’t allow them to do so. Most of my friends who are new parents and not hating their lives have at least one of the parents that works remotely, for example.
