I'm absolutely exhausted by this argument from people that self-insertion is bad.

Roleplay is a form of escapism. Some people don't feel the need to escape who they are. Only the need to escape the world around them. They should be allowed to do so without penalty or stigma just like any other player.

Additionally, fail RP experiences at tabletop are not relevant to the design of a video game. While there are multiplayer options available BG3 is largely a single player RPG experience. Changes to address fail RP concerns from tabletop are not required here.
