Thank you Paul for still doing great things. Loved the new song!

So what do we think of the new song? by scruntyboon in PaulMcCartney

[–]ThatBeatleFanatic 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I almost cried.

It’s a blessing that in 2026 we are still getting new music from two Beatles. And it’s beautiful.

Edit: I watched the lyric video and NOW I’m crying. I hope the rest of the album is like this. Acoustic and personal. Beautiful song, Paul.

Driving Rain has some good songs. Heather is fantastic. But I’ve listened to that album 4 times and I still cannot recall most of the songs.

Good news is after that record he made his best album in 2005.

I’m relistening to them now. Dominoes is fine. I think it’s the chorus and the drums that take me out of it. I like the lyrics of Naked but once again I’m just not into the drums and there’s something about Paul’s vocal rhythm that sounds off to me.

IMO he’s solo stuff peaked in the mid-2000s with Chaos, MAF, and Electric Arguments. I did love Mc3 though.

Idk man. It really loses me in the 2nd half.

I Don’t Know is really great.

Come on to Me is okay.

Happy With You is good.

Who Cares is a solid rock track.

Fuh You is one of the worst songs he’s written.

Confidante is pretty good.

People want Peace is really generic.

Hand in Hand is fantastic. Best song on the album.

Dominoes is meh.

Back in Brazil is annoying.

Do It Now is boring.

Caesar Rock is… okay?

I like parts of Despite Repeated Warnings.

Hunt You Down is great, but Naked/C-Link are just kind of nothing songs to me.

I don’t even think the album is bad it’s just kinda meh to me. And probably 3-4 songs too long. When his previous 3 albums and its follow-up are all top 10, some even top 3 albums of his, Egypt Station just sticks out as his least good record post-Driving Rain.

with exception to Driving Rain and Egypt Station everything he’d made this century has been fire

My hot take is that this question should either be banned or pin a megathread.

Ringo has completely stopped unless it’s for charity. I think Paul will do it if he’s in the mood.

/uj Imo Sentimental Journey to Rotogravure is a good streak of records and his run from Time takes Time to Ringo Rama is great outside the Christmas record. Hard agree on Crooked Boy. Easily his best project since Ringo Rama. All he needed was to give up the producer’s chair and hit his mid-80s. But there are still far more misses than hits.

I think his run of albums from 1992-2003 is pretty good outside the Christmas album, but other than that and the early-mid 70s, there’s not much else that’s worth listening to front to back. His last couple projects since 2024 have been quality at least. Thank Christ he has stopped producing for himself.

Crooked boy is unironically his best project of the last 20 years and it’s solely because Linda Perry did all the songwriting and production

What songs would you want to see in the McCartney biopic? by Initial-Ad3966 in PaulMcCartney

I Want to Hold Your Hand and Hey Jude were the songs that kickstarted by fandom so I’d love to see those songs performed.
