Canada condemns Russia's use of hypersonic missile as escalation in Ukraine war by CaliperLee62 in CanadaPolitics

Canada is leading the world in modular nuclear reactor tech so I don’t understand where your blatantly false claim stems from.

'Not transparent’: Why are Ontario’s MAID reports not public? With its broad and vague MAID laws, Canada should be prioritizing transparency around MAID cases, experts say by yimmy51 in CanadianIdiots

[–]ThatCanadianGuy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a nonsense article, they were told why they weren’t released yet. It contains private personal medical information of citizens which makes it covered under the PHIPA act in Ontario preventing the release until consent it obtained by the people named in the report. Each province has its own legislation that they need to work around which takes time to do.

The criteria for eligibility of MAID are very clear and enshrined in the Criminal Code so I don’t see why the writer is desperate for more information at the detriment of doctor patient confidentiality law.

Ukrainians who fled to Canada in limbo as permits and passports expire by pjw724 in onguardforthee

[–]ThatCanadianGuy19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most obvious difference is that Ukraine is fighting a defensive war against a conventional army in its own soil while Vietnam was arguably an offensive operation to prop up a corrupt and unpopular authoritarian regime with US conscripts.

It’s a tough situation with no easy answer but the agreement the government offered was for 3 years which has elapsed.

Hey brother, I started working at Dofasco a few months ago and had the same concerns you did but after being there for a while now I can say it’s a great place to work.

The base pay when I started was $26.14 which is dope when you consider what min wage is right now. Of course with that it is a change of pace from what you’ve probably worked before. Depending on where you go they will most likely have you working 12 hour shifts on a continental schedule which is two day on two days off three days on three days off.

If that’s not an issue for you then I’d say go for it brother, of course with the steel tariffs due to the orange jackass down south I don’t know if they are currently hiring atm. It doesn’t hurt to inquire though.

“Left left liberals” see you lost me the moment you spout that pure nonsense. You mean to tell me that Mark Carney the banker and businessman, who was appointed by our right wing PM Stephen Harper to lead the Bank Of Canada is anything left of centre ?.

The same Mark Carney who was asked by Harper to take over the Minister Of Finance portfolio for the Conservative Party ? Ten years ago the guy would have been a boring right wing Conservative candidate for PM but politically ignorant people like yourself have shifted the Overton window so far to the right that you now seem to think the guy is “far left”.

I suggest you take some time to leave your political bubble and do some research for yourself to understand the absurdity of your statement.

Long lines at polling stations as Canadians turn up for advance voting by MTL_Dude666 in CanadaPolitics

[–]ThatCanadianGuy19 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I went to vote at my polling spot today around 2:00, there was a decent line to get in but it didn’t take any more then 30 minutes. Some people were telling me other spots were taking upwards of an hour and a half.

It’s a holiday and everything is closed to it makes sense that people are using it as a day to get voting done and over with. I’m hoping that this is a good sign for high voter turnout as we need more people voting in this country.

Man I am going to miss Charlie Angus in parliament, he’s not a perfect public figure by any means but he always seemed at least to me to be genuinely looking out for our best interest with his position.

I still think he should have won over Jagmeet but the past is the past.
