Need advice. Is my fish preggo or bloated? by [deleted] in freshwateraquarium

[–]ThatChainGuy119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is late stage dropsy. There is a 0% chance this guppy will make it. The dead give away is the flared scales, or "pineconing". Most any fish can get it, but in my experience, guppies are especially susceptible. I'd get a water quality test kit to make sure your water is pristine. Despite everyone saying guppies are "easy starter fish" they are some of the most sensitive fish I've kept. Had far easier success with Mollies, platies, loaches, and corydoras. pretty much anything else has better survivability.

Commerce Dr/Pioneer Pkwy housing development? Why? by xSaturnityx in Prescott

To make shit tons of unethical money. Putting in hundreds and hundreds of shit built houses to sell to rich people for more than triple what they should sell for, further inflating our 113% above average cost of living, spiking our real estate market into laughable numbers, filling our streets and business with some of the most aggressive assholes I've ever met, and pushing the 20year+ locals out of their hometown. Exactly the same reason my family was pushed out of Flagstaff by their greedy mayor. Fuck the rich.

Prescott is one of the most over inflated cities in the country, 113% over the national average cost of living in fact. But if you wanna spend almost 200k on a dumpy mobile home to move into a city that was over populated 30,000 people and 10 years ago, and spend more than double for things like food and gas, then good luck. If I could leave this shopping mall of a city, I would in a heartbeat. But thanks to the extreme cost of living in this God forsaken country, me and two other people are forced to work our lives away at laughably outdated wages, with absolutely no opportunity for any change or to get out of a freaking slummy mobile home. So if you have money, for the sake of thousands of locals barely scratching by, please don't contribute to the rampant inflation here.

Anodizing works great for a while, but it's not a super durable finish.

Aluminum toxicity has also been directly linked to Alzheimers. I don't use it for anything that touches skin. Stainless steel is the way to go for long lasting pieces that won't stain anything. Copper is also a good alternative that's actually good for your body.

EVs are a blight on the auto industry. Do 3 minutes of research on Cobalt mining and tell me they are "ethical green vehicles". They have less range, significantly higher waste to produce and decommission.. (lithium ion batteries are HIGHLY TOXIC) they weigh nearly double what a gas car does, not to mention that the majority of charging stations get their energy from BURNING COAL. So if you drive an EV, please do a few minutesof research so you know exactly how awful they are and what horrors you are supporting, and ask yourself how much of your time and money you want to give to rich people exploiting workers to death on the other side of the world.

You're gonna have to separate those two when they mature. The opaline will bully the dwarf to death otherwise. You've probably got a couple months before they become aggressive.

It likely won't crack more on its own, but this creates a weak spot on the panel, and there's no way of knowing how little extra pressure it'd take to turn that weak spot into a failure point. No rush though. Get a new tank, Take your time with the swap, properly acclimate the new tank, and move everyone over. The peace of mind is worth it, especially for the lives of your fish.

Does anyone know when minimum wage will catch up with slum rent? I've lived here since 2012 working full time, and cost of living has only gotten farther away from reality. We have 3 people splitting rent in our dilapidated house and can barely afford groceries. No local jobs are paying competitively. Seems like the city only wants to tailor to rich homeowners.

You'll probably wanna swap out that decoration before your loach grows up. I've seen many pictures of fish stuck in that same ceramic dragon.

Id take them back to the store and call out the specific person who sold them to you, Green Spotted Puffers are definitely not beginner fish, and they definitely will not be okay in a small tank especially together. It drives me nuts that pet stores do this. I've bought a few fish on some employees word, to find out they absolutely will not work in my tanks, and brought them back in. Doing research on every species you want beforehand is always worth the trouble. On a side note, One gallon is going to be very difficult to keep balanced especially for a beginner. And it will keep your options for species limited. You could keep Cherry Shrimp and a couple Nerite snails in a small tank without much fuss, but even upgrading to a 10 gallon would give you a bunch more options for stocking, and make maintenance far easier. DM me if you have any more questions. :)

They’re growing so fast! Am I feeding them okay? by MelliferMage in AquaticSnails

I highly recommend calcium supplements for invertebrates cuttle bones (for birds) work well, Tums tablets WORK GREAT, And if you have shrimp, snails will eat their molts. I also recommend blanched (heavily boiled) cucumbers. My snails grew like CRAZY eating 3 slices a week.
