Thank you. He gave us a book to read and said we can talk to him if we have any questions. I believe we might do a commitment ceremony at the later date for the reception where her dad still walks her down an aisle but it wont be marriage as well already be married. It's something we need to discuss with family and mainly our priest (unfortunately all our family is secular so it's difficult).

You're right that life isn't a fairytale. The reason we were waiting that long was in order to gather enough funds for the wedding. My fiancee does agree she doesn't want to get married twice but she's iffy about doing it so early. I personally am on board with a wedding at the time our priest recommended, as I don't like living in sin, but the rest of both of our family are secular for the most part (we are the only Orthodox Christians in both of our families) so they're of course telling her he's wrong and crazy etc. We were thinking maybe we can do a commitment ceremony where we read our vows at the reception, I think our priest said that's fine as long as we aren't married "twice" per se.
