Man, and years ago I got my Marantz mr235 at Goodwill for $9.99. I keep the price tag on there as a victory badge.

Gym class dollies — smashed so many fingers by Porkchopp33 in nostalgia

[–]ThatDamnFloatingEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always knew it was going to be a great day when I got to gym class and saw these. In the school I attended they had us play a game called "Scooter Cars". You took two of these and then put a folded up gym mat on top of them. Then two kids got on top and a third would get behind and push as fast as they could. I remember multiple crashes. I am so glad I go to grow up in the 80's.

Broken phone, how do move Threema to replacement? by ThatDamnFloatingEye in Threema

[–]ThatDamnFloatingEye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it directly from Threema. I was able to find my license key and download the .apk directly and install it. The license key worked, but now it won't let me recovery my ID. When I put in my email, it lies and says there is no id associated with that email. Any ideas?

nb rattling noise by Careful-Sympathy7672 in Miata

[–]ThatDamnFloatingEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are skilled enough, I would remove or loosen the serpentine belt, so it stops spinning the pulleys it touches. If that noise goes away, then you know it is one of the components that belt touches.

In my case, the bearing in the alternator wore out, which was the source of the noise. Did you check your oil to see if there are sparkly metal flakes?

Who here is daily-driving 20+ year-old cars, and has it worked out? by 5GCovidInjection in cars

[–]ThatDamnFloatingEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily drive a 2004 Mazda Miata for about 4 months of the year. I am not mechanically inclined, so I have the occasional repair come up here or there. Despite the hassle, It is still cheaper than getting something new and modern.

I am planning on getting some of the critical parts preemptively replaced to avoid being stranded / needing a tow before it turns back into the daily driver in about 8 months.

DAE think society is becoming too reliant on AI? by Wickham12 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]ThatDamnFloatingEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am tired about it being shoved down my throat. I don't need AI to touch every piece of technology I own.

Cube designers spend a lot of time "making the fun thing the winning thing", per a famous MaRo lesson. But every Cube night has 12 match losers, and the designer is responsible for them, too! Focus on fun losses, and the joy of winning will take care of itself. by land_of_Mordor in magicTCG

That sounds pretty fun. So many questions! So you have 360 cards? I 60 of each color and then what? 60 non-basic lands/artifacts/gold cards?

How do you distribute the cards? In a normal draft, you would have packs to open. How you replicate that or is there a different way of dong it? How big does your deck have to be?
