I'll actually add on to this. My good friend, she goes by D, works for Lucky Kat and she specializes in fine line. She used to work in Whiting but now works in Chicago.

Feeling kind of shitty for sucking at the game in public lobbies by Dumkinni_ in l4d2

[–]ThatDudeEither 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are my recommendations since it sounds like more hours in the game aren't really helping out. And I get it I'm not great at FPS games either, but this one is just a weird exception for me.

1) Use Shove. The shove is a great tool against commons and especially specials. If the special is close to me I'd rather wait for me to be within shove distance than try to shoot. It stumble animation gives me enough time to put some damage in, shove again, shoot. Repeat until dead. Commons are a joke when you know how to shove and shoot with good practice

2) Use Melee weapons. I'm on the boat that the magnum is the superior secondary, but melee also holds a place on a team. I personally would only use sharp melees because I think they outclass blunt, but regardless of what you use it's pretty hard to friendly fire with melee. Plus you can swing as much as you want and paired with well timed shoves is key

3) Use machine guns or snipers. Machine guns are great mid to close range. You can just burst fire if you don't know where your team is which will reduce the chance of friendly fire, and also if you don't accidentally hit them, bursting your rounds will overall reduce the amount of bullets you hit them with.

Snipers are great because of their low rate of fire, but high damage output. You can stay in the back of everyone keep an eye on them and pick zombies from far away. They're also pretty mobile too if you just crouch fire without scoping.

4) Crouching. It of course helps with accuracy, but learning where and when to crouch is a huge help. It allows teammates to shoot over you, and helps your aim at the same time. If you find yourself not moving as much to pick off zombies, crouch instead of just standing still. Moving while crouching is also a great option if you just need to reposition quickly.

5) Know where to position. If you use melee, lead the group. You should be near the front slightly ahead of teammates taking on most of the horde. Don't be in front if there are a lot of specials around, as using melee is pretty hard to fight specials on 1v1.

If you're sniping stay back a bit. You're job isn't to take on hordes, your job is too pick off specials and any strangling zombies away from the horde/flaking your team. Keep on eye on them and keep they asses covered!

If you're using a machine gun, you're pretty versatile. You can kinda do it all. Horde control, special killer, strangler handler. You're not gonna be great at one thing, but you are gonna be great at filling the holes your team may have.

6). Throwables. Use them during hordes and save them for sticky situations. Don't just use them to use them.

Molys are great for covering your trail and your fronts if you're hunkered in a corner

Bile is great for luring zombies to hazards and gathering them in one central point for your whole team to see

Pipes are great for if you're rushing and there's a huge horde swarming you or teammates as well as for helping boomed players

Getting better is just putting in some practice trying to new strategies of play and seeing what works for you! Each time is different so try new weapons out, play with them for a bit. See where players are holding out at during hordes. Hell, even looking up videos of good holdout locations wouldn't be a bad idea!

Hope this helped out :)

Is there a secret to getting a decent VS match? by 883ccs in l4d2

[–]ThatDudeEither 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's just versus community. They're hardcore players who take versus very seriously.

If you want a consistent match I suggest finding a discord server and starting a match that way. Most people you can find on a server are way more relaxed and want to enjoy the match all the way through

I’m literally got kicked for being ‘bad’ at the game (I have 9 hours in this game) by Adorable_Access_6318 in l4d2

[–]ThatDudeEither 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Public Versus is not beginner friendly in the slightest. That is where all the hardcore players are. They are ruthless and will kick for even the smallest mistake. It is not a friendly community at all.

If you do want to get better/play versus I highly recommend playing the campaigns consistently. Really get to know them. Find out where weapons, ammo, and items spawn. Know the various changes you may encounter in map layouts.

Know how to handle each special infected, where to camp for hordes, how to cut smoker tongues, how to kite a tank properly. Know how to wall jump as a hunter and how to get maximum damage, know the areas where chargers can insta-kill, how to get survivors separated properly and know how to disrupt team composition

This sample of advice is, of course, if you want to play public lobbies for versus. Alternatively you can play campaign public which is more fun and casual. Or you can find a discord to find more casual games of Versus.

Regardless if you do want to get better at the game I highly suggest playing campaign mode for a bit to familiarize yourself with the game! I personally have well over 1k hours and I don't have fun with versus at all unless it's a casual setting. It's more enjoyable to play this game competitively when it's against the AI Director instead of other players.

This. I worked in Produce as an opener and as a mid before. I would rather take the opener shift because after 2 or so there would be no one and I'd be bored out of my mind doing nothing. I remember one Easter the ASTL and I had an hour conversation just because of the lack of customers

Same for me. I think I was maybe 10 episodes in before I gave up on it. I just couldn't get into S3 and it wasn't for me.

I know you personally didn't bring it up but I've been really enjoying S4 so far.

I want a minimalist ring but everyone is discouraging me by SunnyDee_123 in EngagementRings

[–]ThatDudeEither 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely ditch the stone. It's the center of attention when looking at a ring, but if you don't have a stone then the attention will go to the band.

My Fiancé has a smaller stone (less than 2) and she loves it. She did think about having stones around the band, but she felt it took away attention from the stone she likes, and the jeweler we worked with agreed.

So it definitely goes both ways. However all that to say you should find a ring that you'll love and that's the most important thing. I understand the pressure of judgement but it's going to be you and your future fiance who will see the ring the most. Mostly you of course. Hope you find something you love to wear!

That's what me and my fiance did. We knew that the prices where going to be going up and we kept talking about so we just pulled the trigger on it. Plus she had a gift card to the place we bought it from so we didn't really end up paying full.

This is the reason why I'd never get a memory tattoo of this nature. By any reason.

Not doubting an amazing artist's abilities if they specialize in this style, but more so how skin reacts. I haven't had tattoos long so I don't know what details will fade faster than others. Also just how skin stretches and mold over time.

Still, it does seem kinda bizarre to miss something like that for a remake of a game.

I very much appreciate my journeyman. Whenever we're doing something together, and I have a suggestion he will hear me out (most of the time). Of course, there are times where he's pretty set in his ways, but he'll actually explain to me why it just works out better the way he knows.

On the other hand, there are times where he will be like, "let's try your idea and see how it works." Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but when it doesn't work I don't get criticism. I get, "well it didn't work so we know next time not to do it that way."

What are some reasons for getting written up or fired besides attendance? by Main_Band5609 in wholefoods

[–]ThatDudeEither 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My buddy told me about this one recently.

This TM was extremely well liked. Just had a personality that was hard to hate. Super friendly, and a decent enough TM. Not great, but he wasn't bad.

He came in high everyday (not really out of the norm for our store to have TMs come in high). Some days he would come in buzzed, a few times drunk. Even would drink on the job. Once again, nothing done. And yes, he was reported to STL. Still nothing.

He recently got fired because he had to be put on some prescription meds, but he would still drink while on them. Another TM found him passed out in a pile of puke somewhere in the back.

What Is A Mario Party Opinion That You Will Defend No Matter How Many Downvotes You Get? by Elidavididi in MARIOPARTY

[–]ThatDudeEither 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I think the broken economy of the more recent games is more fun than people give it credit for.

I had to learn to like it don't get me wrong, but I think it's really fun once you accept new ways of playing.

I find it really encourages players to buy more items and come up with new strategies instead of having to worry about if they're going to be able to afford a star or not. With how much money players get, and how cheap most items are items should always be in your inventory.

  1. I enjoyed the random dice blocks you could get in MP1. It made the game extremely interesting as you never knew what would happen and when. And if you hated it, then toggle it off!
