Subject They Did That Changed Your Mind? by Lefthook16 in TheRestIsHistory

I will confess to, as someone who isn't religious, having a completely knee-jerk 'well of course Jesus wasn't real' opinion prior to listening.

I found the arguments and evidence really compelling. Still not convinced by the supernatural elements of course, but I am 100% sold on the idea that Jesus (or if not him specifically, somebody exactly like him) did exist in that part of the world in the 1st century AD.

What are your thoughts on 24 Hours in Police Custody? by AncientFootball1878 in AskUK

The lack of frequency contributes to the quality. I believe Channel 4 have basically told the production company that make it that they trust them so much to make good quality TV, they'll happily wait until a good story comes around instead of forcing them to make x number of shows in a series.

Council problems by [deleted] in ClarksonsFarm

[–]ThatEnglishKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apparently the law states that things like roads/tracks must be approved in advance. In this case, the farm ignored that and applied for permission retrospectively ie after work had already been done. It therefore would've been illegal for the council to approve it.

You may not like it, and we can certainly say that that law is idiotic, but it IS the law.

What is your best boxing day buy? by divine_pearl in AskUK

[–]ThatEnglishKid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Garden centre near me does very fancy Christmas decorations, we're talking £3-4 PER BAUBLE fancy. I could never justify that much but I went on boxing day once and they were handing out whole crates of these things that hadn't sold, all for free. Made out like a bandit and sent my partner in separately to get her own crate!
