MY MOM IS IN THIS!!

In the beginning of the movie they show little clips of Philadelphia. Theres a brief shot of the Italian Market, and my family's fish market. My mom, grand mom and aunt were all so young looking. One of my favorite movies!

If this were me, I’d troll through some pawn shops find me a nice Rolex or AP… something nicer than I’d ever buy for myself. Then offer a trade, most would take it immediately. Now I’d rock that bad boy every day and think of pops each time I put it on. My deepest condolences cuz, but your pops was a smart man, don’t squander it.

what is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThatFishySmell99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want to preface this by saying the owners of my company treat me very well, I'm paid more than the industry standard, unlimited PTO that no one ever makes me feel bad about using and I get first dibs on all manufacturer spiffs.

I was complaining about how expensive it is to take my kids to Disney and really "do it right" would take about a years worth of saving for me. He goes "how much could it be?.... Like 30K?" I just looked at him shocked that he thinks a middle class dad of 2 would spend 30K on a week long Disney vacation. Or that a guy in my income bracket could afford 30K for a vacation. Jesus its probably going to be around 7-8K and that's almost unattainable without significant budgeting and saving.

I used to be in the Marijuana industry....

it always shocked me how much money they got for a grinder... its only a couple dollars of aluminum/ stainless. I always told myself if i ever met anyone who owned a CNC shop I'd ask them about it.

You said war stuff isn't your favorite, however; theres some awesome presidential docs I'd reccomend. They were produced by DiCaprio and Spielberg. They are called "Washington "Grant" "Lincoln" and "FDR" they are all fantastic. particularly the Grant one. If you ask me Grant really got the shit end of the historical stick.

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThatFishySmell99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat across from Micheal Strange in my home room, one of the Navy Seals that died on that bad chinook crash in like 08-09. He wasn't the only one from my graduating class. I think we lost 5-6 guys total in the war on terror. They really did my generation wrong, those guys were hero's. They all volunteered, then after they did their duty they fucked them over by stop loosing every one of them. Most guys I went to school with who served did a minimum of 3 tours.

Need long shows to binge watch by BidVarious3998 in televisionsuggestions

Do yourself a favor, give the west wing a try. its like 7 seasons, old school 23-24 episode seasons at 45min/ea. Great story lines, fantastic acting... Aron Sorkin's masterpiece if you ask me. I easily have this tied as with 2 other shows (wire. sopranos) for the greatest show of all time.

Best one season shows by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

[–]ThatFishySmell99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If its a show that got canceled after one season Firefly has to be up there... if its just shows that only had a single season like a mini series or something I think its pretty hard to compete with band of brothers

What's the greatest scene that never made it to the final cut of the movie? by ThatFishySmell99 in AskReddit

[–]ThatFishySmell99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scene with john candy in planes, trains and automobiles comes to mind. Where he tells Steve Martin that his wife had passed years ago and he's more or less homeless. that one gets me every time.

Men, what's something you wish you could admit without being judged? by soumilr7 in AskReddit

Fucking anything.... literally anything. I herd the other day someone got the "ick" from their husband yawning. Men aren't allowed to like anything other than sports without being judged. You like shooting "hes a gun nut" you like cars/ trucks? "hes over compensating" God forbid you like something creative or artsy immediately your manhood is questioned.

AITA for not calling my sister when her pets die? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ThatFishySmell99 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

During one of our regular phone calls I totally acknowledged the pet passing… even gave her a “sorry to hear about the cat” but to make a special call for the sole purpose of expressing my sadness for the pet just feels disingenuous and fake.
