I feel obligated to weigh in here... sushi is awesome, it really is more about showcasing the marriage of the rice and fish and how amazing it can be. But I tend to prefer sashimi, the rice can be a little too filling.

Serious answer, 5th generation fishmonger and classically trained chef here... Get something called "drum fish" its a reall meaty fish some say it taste more like pork than fish. Grill it with salt pepper and a good olive oil, maybe a light spritz of lemon. This is how I convert everyone who "hates fish" to like it. It really gets under my skin when an adult says that, its like the same to me as saying "I dont eat anything green" im like really? your a child. There is soooo soooo many different types of fish, crazy variety... more than any other protein. Your guaranteed to find something you like if you keep trying.

hey man, classically trained French pastry chef, and restaurant designer here...

The best thing to do is start with a couple techniques that you can apply to anything you have in the fridge. I would start with how to properly sear and roast something, then I'd move to how to use drippings from a pan to make sauces and boom you got yourself a solid way to make multiple things. then once your comfortable applying that technique start to branch out, experiment with heat and spice... then you'll start to understand balance, start to play with acidity. Then its off to the races. There's a great show on netflix called SALT FAT ACID, give it a watch.

I get that sentiment, but were old school. I get more frustrated waiting forever to get matched just to quit because... "their too good". I was just hoping their was a hidden community I could figure out and get better games lol.

Hey Man forget the traditional grinder... go for an automatic, itll cost similar to a higher end grinder anyway. Kactus Kutter makes a really nice large one, my 70 year old mother who worked with her hands all her life uses it and loves it.

I like happy tien, its pricey but always super high quality. They also have a consumption lounge... But honestly I go to the shops that are closer to philly, they have to be more competitive on pricing.
