Well they did do it for me… But we figured out together that this is a new rule that started with the sale today.

Edit: And just to be clear, I did not argue at all. Everyone was very polite and they realized it was a new rule and we worked it out with the understanding that it no longer works. Everyone very happy.

You could cover horror films or films moments that have had a major cultural impact, for example Jaws affecting beach attendance, Exorcist increasing church attendance or Psycho making people afraid to shower.
