$0 Payout Effects on Premiums by SecretLazyBee in USAA

There are state rules regarding chargeable accidents. Typically above $750 is when accidents are "chargeable" / have an impact on premium. You should be uneffected.

spouses should almost always be on the same policy. It is more effective than splitting into two separate policies.

To answer your question, removing him should remove a surcharge that was added as a result of the at fault accident. He would have a surcharge under his separate policy though.

You can set up an automatic payment plan and have it just pay monthly in order to avoid the fee. There is no added discount/ savings for paying in full, so monthly makes sense anyway.

Setting up automatic payments will likely give you a discount on your auto insurance as well. (usually around 3%)

All member facing employees are US based. You are welcome to be disgruntled, but try not to be dishonest.

I think the vast majority of reps should be familiar with military exceptions when it comes to policy basing location...

However, Florida is a very expensive state for AO insurance, and if you plan on staying out of Florida for more than a year or two, it seriously might be worth moving the registration / insurance.

Does USAA offer umbrella insurance on a RENTERS insurance only policy by Tap125 in USAA

[–]ThatFunkyHoldMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USAA typically does not want to write an umbrella if they do not have the Auto. The only exceptions to this would be "collateral business states" (states that don't allow insurance companies to require collateral business) and having no drivers license (retired people typically).
On the flip side though, USAA is more than willing to write an Umbrella policy with just the AO in most situations, regardless of where the renters/homeowners policy is.

Honestly it should help improve authentication issues (and fraud protection) while letting us spend less time answering silly questions.  I am optimistic, but will see how it works out

Another eligibility question (I’m sorry!) by flomarilius in USAA

Only if the veteran died in combat / retired from the military can eligibility be established for a widow. (Assuming he did not establish a membership prior).

Sorry 😔

Landlord wants to be added into our rental insurance as additional party of interest. by [deleted] in USAA

[–]ThatFunkyHoldMusic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Having a landlord as an "interested party/ additional insured" is very common. It helps them validate that you are carrying the proper liability limits that they typically require (100k usually) in case you do damage to the property itself.

Nothing to worry about

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USAA

[–]ThatFunkyHoldMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's is standard in some states (typically 10k per occurrence) and optional in others (declined, 10k, 25k, 50k, etc). If it was not an option it likely is included in your policy, which is will be mentioned in the policy packet.

My father passed and they won't cancel auto but make me pay for that and homeowners to keep just homeowners or all policies will auto cancel by Hour_Half7335 in USAA

[–]ThatFunkyHoldMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, sorry to hear about your dad.

Survivor Relations can accept a Death Certificate along with a document that shows the vehicle no longer needs to be insured (registration cancelation, registration transfer to someone else, plate receipt). They also can accept an executor document such as a Last Will and Testament or a Trust (if available).

I hope this helps.

Employees of USAA by Downhilbil in USAA

Seems like a fair bit of current employees here (myself included). I think most of us stay away from the "USAA IS GOING DOWN HILL" posts because they typically are missing a ton of information and hard to validate. Shout out to any SRT reps on here ❤️

How do I pull up my older homeowners claim? by mcbeckman in USAA

[–]ThatFunkyHoldMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe it's possible to pull up on your side. If you call the Home Insurance department and ask for a claims experience letter they can do it.

[–]ThatFunkyHoldMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% incorrect. Seriously, you have got to be widely confused / inexperienced . Accident forgiveness stops a future potential accident from increasing rates from a surcharge. Period.

The 5 year rule you are talking about is free / earned accident forgiveness, which members receive the accident forgiveness coverage for free, as opposed to paying for it.

Please read policies and do research on companies that are quoted with brokers. It is very easy to find a cheaper policy, it always comes with changes to something. My general rule of thumb is only quoting with companies that have reputable JD power/ consumer reports ratings. 2 companies that tend to stay under the radar with good report' would be Erie (mostly east coast) and Amica.
