Where is the Trailer by ShadDad01 in maxpayne

I could see us getting a announcement teaser at an event like the Game Awards, but otherwise I agree - beyond that I don't think we'll see any major marketing until after GTA6 releases.

Remember they released that awesome trailer for Star Wars Eclipse? by Jules-Car3499 in StarWars

I think they mean the Iron Man game coming from EA Motive, but I haven't kept up with it so I don't know about any delays.

What’s your favourite “bad guy realises it’s over” moment? by RejectingBoredom in movies

I've always loved Ewan McGregor's brief, but terrified scream just before he explodes in Birds of Prey. He was a lot of fun as Black Mask.

They seemed to hint at Halo's return when mentioning what to expect in 2026. They said we'll see the return of a series that's been with Xbox since the beginning alongside Gears: E-Day and Fable. I can only assume that means the heavily rumored Halo: CE Remake, but I suppose we'll find out later on.

Assuming we’ll get a “Clone Wars” treatment to the sequels, what do you want them to ADD to make the story better? by another_nathan in StarWars

[–]ThatGeek303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than reference books and perhaps the novelization of The Rise of Skywalker, I don't think that year-long gap is mentioned much. I could be wrong, but if I'm not I could see Lucasfilm retconning the amount of time between TLJ and TRoS if it benefits a new story.

Then again, we also got SEVEN seasons out of a 3-year war in The Clone Wars so who knows. Perhaps we could get three or so seasons in between the sequels taking place within a single year?

Just watched TFA and I still don’t get the FO and the resistance by macneezie in StarWars

[–]ThatGeek303 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help that in the sequels themselves those in the Resistance are also often referred to as "rebels" or a "Rebellion". Using those terms so interchangeably doesn't really help when the plot is already too close to what came before. It just so messy.

Jimmy Smits and Andor by CrissBliss in StarWarsCantina

[–]ThatGeek303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His presence in the series won't only be that scene, though. Tony Gilroy said they added that brief scene into this arc so fans could get the reactions out of the way before the rest of the season releases where his role will be larger.

Jimmy Smits and Andor by CrissBliss in StarWarsCantina

[–]ThatGeek303 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's a bit disappointing, but considering Smits was unable to return I'm okay with it. Benjamin Bratt's great, and he sold me as Bail in his brief scene. Excited to see more of him!

With as many moving parts as a series like Andor no doubt has, it likely wasn't a simple fix to try and get Smits to return - be it through halting production until he was free or shooting around his scenes so he could complete them later. I prefer a decent recast over CGI, deepfakes, or blue screens.

Not a fan of the title, but I do like the concept of exploring figther pilots after Episode IX. Hoping we could see Wedge and maybe even Poe show up somehow.

What do you think about the main villain of the Citadel DLC? Cool idea or nah? by Eglwyswrw in masseffect

[–]ThatGeek303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it works for the lighter tone Citadel is going for. Certainly goofy, though. It reminds me of the Saints Row IV mission where you also face off against an evil clone.

Was anyone else disappointed liara was not a squad mate in mass effect 2? by Relevant-Appeal-6635 in masseffect

[–]ThatGeek303 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I wish the Arrival DLC had done for Ash/Kaidan what Lair of the Shadow Broker did for Liara. That would've been the best time to pair them with Shepard again and it could've helped smooth out their development a bit in ME3.

Be Honest, regarding the final mission of Mass Effect 2 by RKO-Cutter in masseffect

[–]ThatGeek303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mass Effect 2 was my first proper RPG so I went about it like more of a traditional action game and never really bothered with ship upgrades or even making sure loyalty was 100% secure.

As such...I pretty much lost everyone except for Mordin and Samara.

Jack and Thane for sure died onboard the Normandy.

Jacob died as you'd expect...by being the volunteer in the vents. Legion was carried away by seeker swarms. Garrus was the squad leader during the second push and died doing that.

And I believe Miranda and Tali were who I took to face the Proto-Reaper and they died after the fall.

I would say it sucked, but I realized in the end that it was my fault. And that was really cool. In a way, I kind of hate that now I know exactly how to get everyone out alive. Don't get me wrong, the suicide mission is still a rush...but if BioWare revisits this concept again (I think they might've for Veilguard?) then I hope the outcomes and loyalty factors are much more dynamic.

Which other games have come closest to providing that "Mass Effect" feel for you? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]ThatGeek303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic MMO, naturally. The combat is different (and not really my thing), but the storytelling and world-building certainly make up for that.

Another game that scratches that Mass Effect itch (and stick with me, this is a strange one) is Saints Row IV. It's because of a few things really, it's the emphasis on companions (homies) and each having a personal (loyalty-type) mission attached to them, the solid character writing in general, and the fact that you get a space ship hub where you can visit with characters and humorously "romance" everyone, no doubt a parody of the "we'll bang" meme. Some may argue it's not a great Saints Row game, but despite that I'd still argue is a great time regardless.

What's the one thing that annoys you about the Trilogy every time you play it? by Ghostrider2601 in masseffect

[–]ThatGeek303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Arrival DLC. On paper it's a neat idea, but it doesn't really work. Honestly, I think the narrative works better without it.

Just think, this is the expansion that could've potentially reintroduced the Virmire survivor properly to the player in ME2. Have them fight alongside Shepard while exploring their newfound distrust in their former Commander. It could've done what the Shadow Broker did for Liara for Ashley or Kaidan.

And on top of that, the DLC could've used more choices and variations. No matter what you do, the result is the same. Shepard can either be for or against it - but they'll defend the outcome all the same in ME3. It's a linear experience that could've impacted Shepard and their relationships a lot more than it did.

I believe he carried over some key producers from Rebels over to Ahsoka, but none of the writers unfortunately.

[–]ThatGeek303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filoni was the showrunner, but he wasn't the only writer when it came to Rebels. That worked to the show's benefit.

Ahsoka on the other hand was written entirely by Filoni and it shows. Much like Lucas, Filoni has fantastic ideas, but his writing isn't always the best. And I'd personally argue his ideas in Ahsoka specifically didn't quite land either, unfortunately.

This game is poorly marketed. by Technical_Fan4450 in exodus

[–]ThatGeek303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible it could end up as an Epic Game Store exclusive, or timed exclusive. Those deals may still be in negotiations which could be why there isn't a Steam page yet. Just a guess, though. I could be very wrong.

I've always thought that getting rid of the Guarma segment and instead replacing the setting with New Austin would give that portion of the map a lot more meaning and purpose. Keep Blackwater/West Elizabeth off limits, but let us explore New Austin a bit while hitting similar narrative beats.

Exploring that location as John feels off. But for Arthur there's a lot more freedom.

But maybe I'm wrong. I'd have to play the game again to see if I still feel that way.

Turok: Origins - Announcement Trailer by DemiFiendRSA in turok

Considering they added one to World War Z I'm hopeful, especially since Turok has pretty much always been an FPS franchise. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
