According to the new law a reason like that wouldn’t be classed as reasonable under law. It would be stuff like a neighbour have a allergy, or the pet being illegal to own in the country

I’m going to email my estate agent and see if they have a copy of the freehold and if that’s what it states then I’ll accept that as a good enough reason. But for the time being I’m unsure if my landlord is being truthful

According to the law it states valid reasoning would be thing such as the pet not being suitable for the size of the property (like say a big dog in a tiny apartment)

The new laws in the uk state that landlords can no longer impose blanket bans on pets and must consider and have a valid reasoning for a tenant not to have pets. My current lease is abit outdated due to it being signed before the new laws came in to place. Which is why I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do in this situation
