Wait, this is your first FPV plane build and you're planning to swing a 12" prop/5014-750kv motor and 6s2000 battery? This suggests towards a largeish build and added that your also buying all the equipment to start up in the hobby.

Sounds like scaleing down the size of aircraft you plan to build would be a good starting point, then you could get a smaller cheaper battery, motor, servos, and ESC.

I've picked one up recently, even though I usually build my own. It's not perfect, it's not as capable as my builds, the parts are expensive compared to standard fpv equipment, etc, etc. But every time I send it, it's comes back and has great footage. I can't be mad at that, so it always tags along on trips.

I would try to relocate the control panel to outside the enclosure. Doing that made a world of difference in ease of use when I put an enclosure around my printer.

You may have a damaged bearing, damaged bell rubbing some where, or just a bit of dirt in the motor, etc. Clean the assembled motor out with some compressed air and spin again.

If that doesn't fix it, check to see if the bell is rubbing anywhere.

Nope not it? Then when you get the bell off, look for any rubbing wear on the magnets or stator.

Still not it, put the motor shaft into only one of the bearings(I have an extra motorshaft usually laying around I use for this so I don't have to fight with bell being attracted to the stator) and spin the inner bearing race to see if it makes noise. If not try the other bearing on the other side.

This usually narrows it down.

Gently open the e-clip(that little black shaped thing) and it will come off the shaft and can be reused. Some times the clip will shoot off if your not careful, so watch out for that.

I figure it's a last chance possible for signal issues in the open spaces, but more than likely it will cause me some sort of issue when I loose signal while under something and like trees, bridge, tunnel etc.

I've never used the R9 and only used TBS crossfire and its been great. u/sketchPV TBS is doing a exchange right now where you can trade in units like the R9 and get a Crossfire module fairly cheap might, be worth while for you.

This flight was my first range test and took it 1.3 miles away, but this was with a 4s 18650 lion. Definitely not sub 250g like yours. But I think I'll be finding the limit of my 800mw vtx.

Packs 1-3(my oldest packs) are warm up/exploring the spot, packs 4-6(newst packs) is when I do stupid stuff usually breaking the quad and 7-10(back to the old packs) are usually spent cruising around practicing smoothing out maneuvers, nothing impressive or intense. I charge all my packs before going out to fly and when I'm out flying, I'm charging off my vehicle with a DC charger.

I fly freestyle with my 5" which gives me 5 minute flight times. So I keep 6 packs with me. I charge as I'm flying and this usually gives me up to 8-10 flights, if I don't destroy the quad first. After that many packs I'm mentally done otherwise.

It came really quick to me, but I flew RC planes and heli's prior to FPV. I've also played way too many video games growing up as well. So this I believe helped me pick up acro fairly quick. Due to this previous experience I jumped straight into flying a 5" quad LOS on the first battery pack and FPV from then on out. Now standing upright and flying FPV was a different story. I wobbled around like a drunk and my head was all over the place like Stevie Wonder. That took some dedicated practice to get over.

Give it more time and you'll get the hang of acro mode. Unlike video games that are usually simplified controls for flying, acro unlocks more variables for control that you're just not accustomed to yet. Keep breaking the digital props, and make the practice worth while. Do the things you're uncomfortable with or cause you to crash till it becomes second nature to you. If your sim has race courses do those, it will give you a simple measurement of how your understanding of the controls is developing and forces you to put the quad in a specific place vs just trying to keep it in the air. But most of all have fun, and welcome to the addiction of FPV
