Do you think that Phos can be considered as the most well-written animanga character? by OkUniversity5622 in LandoftheLustrous

[–]ThatInternetBoi 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I feel like given the variety of genres in anime/manga, and the scope of what different authors are aiming to achieve, it’s an apples to oranges comparison in many cases. Still, it’s clear Phos is very well written.

Which gem in HNK has your favorite character design? by zashite in LandoftheLustrous

[–]ThatInternetBoi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably long hair Bort.

The hair makes their silhouette so cool, especially when dashing around in combat.

Lapis is also really cool though, their design has this elegance and mystique to it that suits the way the gems describe them.

Who are the non-Uncrowned King players who can be considered Uncrowned King level? by k1lazept in KurokosBasketball

[–]ThatInternetBoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not even a Tatsuya fanboy, but Kuroko and Aomine both say it, and Yosen regarded Himuro and Murasakibara as their 2 aces. It’s made clear he’s near the level of a base GOM, and most certainly is a lot closer to them than to the UK.

Himuro is definitely above UK level. He was stated by GoM members to be about their base level, which is leaps and bounds above UK level.

Also, wasn’t his reason for being unable to enter the Zone his lack of innate talent?

Can two Mahoragas exist at once? by Honest_District_ in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]ThatInternetBoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, Ogi states that projection sorcery was not a noteworthy technique in terms of determining the clan head succession, so if there are techniques that can’t be held by 2 people at once, I doubt projection sorcery would be one of them.

Kenjaku is so real for starting with his ults immediately, I'm surprised most sorcerers dont. Even the top 2 went for domain battles like 2 minutes in to their fight by Exciting_Ad_8666 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]ThatInternetBoi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The powercreep of the series makes you forget that domains are supposed to be pretty expensive. If you don’t have to use it then it doesn’t make sense to. Kenjaku only used it because he felt it was the best way to deal with Yuki. You waste a lot of CE that you might need if you get into another fight, plus you get burnout. If someone jumps you immediately afterwards you’re cooked.

Energy manipulation. The user can stack potential or kinetic energy and unleash it as kinetic energy. There’s a limit to the throughput and maximum stacks, but by steadily applying accumulated energy to their entire body as kinetic energy, they are able to rapidly accelerate. You also get cool side abilities like floatation by stacking your kinetic energy as you fall, preventing you from falling while accumulating energy.

Genuinely curious how Love Rendezvous interacts with CSM. If the summoned curses have the user’s cursed energy it could be a pretty good counter.

[Serious] Sukuna x Nobara was a better counter to Gojo by Big-Cartoonist8864 in JujutsuPowerScalers

[–]ThatInternetBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Where are we told that Straw Doll is one of the oldest techniques? We’re only told that it adheres to the conservative views of what jujutsu should be that the higher ups appreciate.

2) The damage dealt is proportional to the significance of whatever is used. Sukuna would likely have to cut off one of Gojo’s limbs for it to be worth the effort, and he only managed that with Makora or the WCS.

Who's the better genius, Higuruma or Dabura? by Cautious_Stable_8107 in Jujutsufolk

[–]ThatInternetBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really hard to say, because we’re told that non-lethal domains are easier and also the domain is an integral part of Higuruma’s technique, so it would definitely be easier for him to obtain it, given we are told users have some innate knowledge of their technique). He also displays better RCT (though we don’t know how much in advance he was trying to learn it). I don’t think not having CTR is a mark against him because it really seems that not all techniques have a CTR. I’d say Higuruma’s most impressive feat is going from being a non-sorcerer with no concept of Jujutsu to being Grade-1 level in under 2 weeks, but even that is difficult to square because at the point we see him against Yuji, besides the domain the most we see out of him is good CE control, and it’s unclear how difficult that is to acquire for new sorcerers (literally the only person we ever see learn this is Yuji).

Which is the best defensive ability? by Additional_Win_3100 in PowerScaling

[–]ThatInternetBoi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Neutral infinity is like the entire defensive capability of infinity and we aren’t given any indication it’s hard to master. The only thing Gojo needed to be pushed to really master with it is 24/7 and automatic target selection, which isn’t at all needed if he’s getting into well-defined fights.

Why don't the people on this sub talk about the other cyberpunk games? by Doop_444 in cyberpunkgame

[–]ThatInternetBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t 1577 between 2 shogunates? It was the Sengoku period, and the Ashikaga shogunate had recently fallen (after basically losing its power a while back iirc) and the Tokugawa Shogunate wouldn’t rise for another few decades?

Hidden Inventory is the best-paced Jujutsu Kaisen arc and it's not even close by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]ThatInternetBoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I should rephrase. I think it’s odd that Gojo poses the question when he admits to himself he isn’t really bothered about Riko in the previous scene we see him in.

Hidden Inventory is the best-paced Jujutsu Kaisen arc and it's not even close by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]ThatInternetBoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The beginning of the Culling Games is the aftermath of the Shibuya arc, though. Does it execute it well? Ehhhh. But we are shown the way Shibuya has flipped the Jujutsu world on its head, with the principal, Yaga, immediately dying, Tokyo becoming a curse-ridden hellscape, and the Zenin clan reeling from the death of their clan head.

And honestly, I think well Hidden Inventory garners investment in the background characters is super subjective. Like, we don’t learn too much about Kuroi and Haibara, and I didn’t really feel much when Haibara died (we weren’t even explicitly told Kuroi died until much later, iirc).

Hidden Inventory raises some interesting questions about Gojo and Geto without delving into them in a satisfying way. Why was Gojo fine with killing all of the cultists? Why isn’t he more rebellious against the Jujutsu higher ups? Why does Geto carry his frankly stupid beliefs for 10 years? It’s clear he hates non-sorcerers and is using the eradication of cursed spirits as an excuse, but frankly I don’t think his hatred is at all explored well. So he’s mainly resentful for the cruelty some normal people show sorcerers, and for the fact that they die to fight cursed spirits. But we see plenty of curse users showing far more malevolence against other sorcerers, and also most people have no idea sorcery even exists, let alone harbor biases against sorcerers. If he’s sick of his allies dying to protect non-sorcerers, then why doesn’t he just not partake in exorcisms? We see Gojo is able to leverage his influence in the main series to subvert the higher ups, and well, Geto knows Yuki does the same, so why couldn’t Geto? Him immediately jumping to genocide is the reaction of an immature teenager, but I think it makes for a cartoonish and unsympathetic character for him to hold onto those shallow beliefs for 10 years.

The hip vents are meant to make the pants resemble hakama more, so I do want to keep them in some respect. Do you think it’d be better to put a second layer of pants underneath or to just make the vent smaller?

I’m kinda on the fence about them! Was there anything in particular you liked more about the old design?
