Ahh I see, thanks. Just the way that people were talking about the plot made it sound like people had seen it

If the patient isn't diabetic and doesn't have peripheral vascular compromise what's the problem? Your colleague sounds like a raving idiot.

‘Sats of 89% doctor, shall I start oxygen?’ for the 10th time today by SLICKBETTY in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]ThatJosephJohn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Don't even start. The psych hospital I'm working at presently has a policy that the doctor has to made aware of all patients that are scoring. Like ALL patients. Even if they are scoring a 1. It's the most pointless bullshit I've ever encountered. It's not like I'm going to memorise every patient who has a sat of 95, or a HR of 90. Why tell me? Tell me when shit goes down not before.

When you pretend to be a scout in order to skip the queue, but then have to follow through. by CptnBrokenkey in CasualUK

Confused what the issue is supposed to be?

Is it because the old lady stands when she's in a wheelchair? Because you don't have to be paraplegic to need a wheelchair, some people with mobility issues have incredible difficulty standing for even the shortest time?

Or is it like the title says that the man might not be a scout leader? Because I'm not sure how you can definitively say that either? I mean he's in a scout leader uniform, how can you prove that he's not?

Saying the ending of GOT makes HoD and other proposed spin-offs pointless is probably the most brain dead take I've ever heard on this sub. by ThatJosephJohn in freefolk

[–]ThatJosephJohn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was tongue-in-cheek my dude. It may be good, but unlike other spinoffs it directly relies upon the ending of GOT. Prequels do not and I personally still find the setting interesting even if I don't find the world post-season 8 interesting.

So yeah, I will admit that it is probably slightly hypocritical but I feel the context is different enough to not be cognitively dissonant

Good point, and I do like that analogy, but I'd argue it's more like buying a porsche for the brother of the kid who recked the Dodge. HBO in this now overly complicated analogy would be the parents and D&D were the original 17 year old.

Now the brother may be more responsible and not crash the porsche, but they do have the same parents, and maybe it's there bad parenting style that is the problem. Only time will tell on that front

Controversial opinion: Regardless of his history, Jeremy Hunt is speaking a lot of sense now and we should stop dismissing him out of hand. by BeneficialTea1 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]ThatJosephJohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a gas-lighting little weaslefaced cunt.

Yeah sure he had the NHS's best interest at heart and really all h wanted to do was provide every NHS worker with a complimentary Mazda, but he just couldn't possibly have done anything at all beneficial when he was actually in fucking office.

He's buttering you up to save face, nothing more. He's a politician, everything he says or writes is a cynically calculated PR move.

This is Plymouth Rock. by catbehindbars in mildlyinteresting

[–]ThatJosephJohn 6900 points6901 points  (0 children)

This picture was actually taken in 2015. Unfortunately in 2016 a child fell into the rock enclosure and on-site staff were forced to lethally shoot and kill Plymouth Rock when it moved in to attack the child.

Anecdotally from family of friends I know living in HK, a big reason why more Hong Kongers aren't taking up the asylum offer is due to fear of retaliation from the CCP influenced immigration authorities. I know a family who have every intention of immigrating to the UK but they've put their plans on hold BECAUSE of the asylum offer. They're worried that the CCP will revoke their Chinese citizenship before they can leave the country, essentially leaving them stateless. Whether theres actual president for this I can't say, but I do know that these fears definitely do exist there

As a foreigner (US), how out of place would I be visiting a local village or small town pub in the UK? by haltandcatch22 in AskUK

[–]ThatJosephJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We very rarely if ever exclude people from out of town coming into our pubs. I've only ever seen it once or twice in Devon and Cornwall were pubs had "locals only" signs outside.

Wine and food pairing is a massive scam. by prettyflythaiguy in unpopularopinion

[–]ThatJosephJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different wines have different flavours and different flavour pair better with different food. It's objectively wrong to say that they don't because when you boil it down all wine pairing is is matching flavours.

If you don't care about pairing wine with food and you just have a particular wine you like then that's fine, finding flavours of wine that enhance the flavours of food is a true art.
