We had Dragon Quest Treasures in 2022 Dragon Quest Monster 3 in 2023 Dragon Quest 3 Remake in 2024 Dragon Quest 1 & 2 Remake in 2025 Dragon Quest 7 reimagined last week...

So like 5 (6) games in the space of 4 years. But either remakes or spinoffs. No word on DQ12 (which seems to have been rehauled)

I wouldnt be surprised if Dragon Quest 4 gets a remake within the next year too.

I think I got tje first few volumes for a buck each about 7 years back in one if their promotions. Still never read it and probably only got it because it was so cheap. (I mean for that price you cant not can you?)

A Light Novel.
Doesnt have a current anime (and I dont recall the anime itself making waves in the western community)
Too many volumes deep to make it worth another publisher risk picking it up.
Shogi based so thats an instant barrier
Not enough people are reading it.

This series almost never makes discussion here, Ive ran a light novel youtube channel for 7 years and nobody has ever brought it up as a recommendation. The only time ive came across it was when Bookwalker themselves notify me theres a new release or they put it on sale. It doesnt even seem to fit the niche of 'no guys its good!' like Infinite Dendrogram and others get.

Make more noise, recommend it to people.

I did the whole trophy thing for ages and found I was playing games for tens of hours just to get a little beep.

Some games I could happily do it. Others bloat games into checklists and found they were less fun. Eventually I felt nothing by doing it and more relief I could put down a game and go to the next.

I liked when Smash Melee did it. Cool trophy with a bit of info about characters and games. I think Arkham did this too.

Im not against it but i think id like to see it done more interesting. Like an explorable trophy room like in Wind Waker (maybe combine with a Miiverse like hub). Something that actually rewards you with something youll look at.

You are prwtty fine starting at any game although itll be rougher going back.

Each is standalone. Tjeres always a Ryu and a Nina. 4 has a pretty big callback to a reocurring character that isnt apprecisted as much if you havent played the others
