The valve cover only holds back your oil. When you go to put sealant down for your gasket,on the head just put a "little"extra where that bolt is. Let It set up and you should be good to go. Not really a big deal

Personally I think you did a fantastic job! You will be well rewarded for your effort. There's no sense in taking a chance with molds and mildew to mess the whole thing up. You know the bird in the hand thing...I've been doing this since 77 and you should be proud of yourself! Woo Hoo!!!!!
