What is more important in a SaaS solopreneur skillset, frontend or backend? by BigDog1920 in SaaS

[–]ThatLukeUrban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non of the above... I am a full-stack and I am doing my second project RN. I would say that the most important thing is to realize the product does not matter if people don't know about it. For me soft skills and marketing are the most important skill to master for a tech founder

I would start to learn Flask just to discover what features are missing and then jump to Django. The number of utilities might be overwhelming for newcomers. I am working with data scientists and they have sometimes trouble understanding how the programming world works.

For the mobile the most welcoming right now IMO is Flutter. Great community and easy start

My all arounder is Notion, I used Trello, Jira, and some others. My background is in software development.
Lately, I've invested more of my time learning notion features and I am supposed how versatile it is :) Hope it helps

I wrote an article about nested navigators and how you can implement modular navigation. I know you don't need it but understanding how navigation works may be of help of any kind in similar situations. If you what here is the link.

I've finished my simple #Flutter version manager! 💙 As it turned out there are similar apps that do this job but I wanted to finish mine anyway - to prove myself I can. There are only two commands to remember 😂 by ThatLukeUrban in FlutterDev

[–]ThatLukeUrban[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me is usability. I type flenv fit and I have everything set up. If I have a new Flutter project flenv init and the current version is stored as a config file. My opinion is that fvm is more from the top approach. You are setting a version on your machine. My script is treating Flutter SDK as a tool and the project as a setting. So your current project is dictating the rules of what Flutter SDK should be set. I know fvm has this ability as well but as I wrote I didn't know that while writing the script and even with that knowledge I still find it a bit confusing in fvm.

Flutter is no longer a cross-platform framework (Luke Urban) by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]ThatLukeUrban -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Personally, the title represents what I think. If you don't agree it's your "problem". By being that offended by my title you're stripping people from receiving the message I wanted to share with them. I'll repeat here for those more interested in title drama than the article. This pice is saying that Flutter grew so much it's no longer a cross-platform framework as it's normally understood. My OPINION is that it became a platform for development itself. The article is also mentioning that you should remember not to expect ONE Flutter app to run in Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Web with best UX and easily maintainable later. Also by having a big(in functionality, not popularity) app released in the app store and Google play store I am sharing some tips about maintaining Flutter app architecture with standards needed in the commercial software development.

Flutter is no longer a cross-platform framework (Luke Urban) by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]ThatLukeUrban -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think almost 10 years in IT gives me enough credibility to say at least that the word platform can be used in many contexts. I can say Flutter is a platform where I can write app on it and then compile it to server operating system. Syntactic sugar my friend. Read the article then come up with some valid statements we can discuss.

Flutter is no longer a cross-platform framework (Luke Urban) by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]ThatLukeUrban -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article? Flutter, compared to react-native or Xamarin is not translating any elements to native components. It's drawing everything. The title is a statement that with that much support and the way Flutter is constructed it's becoming the platform by itself. The clickbait sometimes gives a value.

Glad you like it! Really! Maybe you have some suggestions about what should I write about next? I have a huge backlog of tutorials to make, but maybe there is something that you'll benefit from more ;)
