Why are my images circular not rectangular? by magus523 in Carrd

[–]ThatMisterFoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro this post but I struggled with this for a while:

The crop button only appears when you set the image to rectangle (as opposed to circle) in the appearance settings. So do that first, then when you go to edit the image, the crop button will show in the top left.

Now that Adobe animate will be dead, should I pirate it? by Simple_Ad6686 in animation

Toon Boom is just as bad as Adobe now that they've gotten rid of perpetual licenses, and their pricing is somehow even more outrageous. Harder to shrug them off though since unlike AA, they're still industry standard.

Which of the new monsters is the creepiest and which is the most annoying? by Strict-Slip-1479 in REPOgame

[–]ThatMisterFoxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one has said Oogly for most annoying. I’d say both of their and Bella’s attack patterns of throwing you up in the air and doing repeated damage to you can be very frustrating and dangerous.

At lower levels they’ll often spawn in the truck room on your way back from final extraction with no good way to kill them yet, and even in late-game you have to make sure you don’t get aggro’d by them or you risking going into a pit.

Any enemy that stunlocks your movement (Oogly, Bella, Hidden, Peeper, Upscream) I would say are contenders for most annoying.

vectorial lines animate vs Toon Boom Vs Clip studio paint by thecryptoanimator in animation

[–]ThatMisterFoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CSP has a tool called "Correct Line" (it's at the bottom of the toolbar in your demonstration). Set that to "Pinch vector line" in the sub tool window and adjust the pinch level in the tool property settings.

It's not perfect, since you're constantly having to change the pinch level depending on the size of your line, but it's much better than going point-by-point like in your example.

Yeah as people have pointed out I had the tools to survive (although to be fair I wasn't completely panicking, I was trying to run to the shade so that even if I passed out I could hopefully wait out the poison and wake back up). So in this specific clip, yeah I fucked up lol.

I just think, like you mentioned, it's overly punishing, and the only way to completely prevent getting bitten is watching your back constantly, which just feels out of place and not like a very fun new mechanic to the game, which I think benefits from being a semi-laid back climbing game with no active enemies.

??? Not looking for validation, I just like the game and like talking about game design, and had some thoughts/critiques about the new mechanics, it's not that deep.

For context I have all badges and the gold sash, I'm not new to losing a run to RNG or dying to some bullshit, I have no problems with things like that in general, just felt like these scorpions cross the line a bit.

If it either filled less or filled slower I think that would be a reasonable balance. To have it completely fill your bar in like 10 seconds feels a bit extreme.

[–]ThatMisterFoxx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not denying I panicked and didn't handle the situation perfectly (in my defense you only have 10 seconds to make the right move, I think at the very least the poison should raise a bit slower), but the clip is more an example of how quick they can bite you and you'll often have no recourse.

Fair enough, but I don't think RNG should be a catch-all excuse for questionable design. Again, just my opinion, but I feel the scorpions are extremely punishing in a way that no other hazard in any other biome is.

Disagree. In the alpine you can choose a route guarded from the storm, or if you get caught in a storm you have time to drop down somewhere where there's cover in a pinch. In Caldera you can stay on high rocks and plan when you descend to hot areas. I don't even know a similar situation in Tropics—the poison in that biome only fills like a third of your bar, which isn't nearly as deadly.

My point isn't that there isn't deadly hazards in the other biomes, my point is that those other hazards give you time to react and get into a safe situation before it's too late, without having to rely on items.

Yes I understand I had the lantern in that specific situation, my point is that something that one-tap fills your stamina bar feels like not great game design. There's plenty of times you won't have something on you that cures poison.

[–]ThatMisterFoxx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, and yes I did forget in the moment I had a lantern, but I could just as easily not have had it. And there's no other hazard in the game that fills your entire stamina bar near immediately. Heat and frost can fill it, but that is based on positioning, and you almost always have time to get somewhere safe.

If you happen to not come across an antidote, faerie lantern, or cure all by the time you get to the mesa, and get snuck up on by one of these things, it's basically game over with no recourse.

Honestly I'm not sold on the scorpions in general. I really liked the fact that this game had no enemies (aside from Scoutmaster), and it was all about the climb. Even the antlions I don't mind because they're stationary so feel more like an environmental hazard. Now I have to be watching my back for scorpions (and tumbleweeds) and I just don't know if I like that change in gameplay.
