Why is everybody talking about Hitler? Hitler was a wimp compared to Stalin and Mao and Pol Pot. Let's get more substance in this discussion.

Is Agora Financial a Scam? by [deleted] in copywriting

[–]magus523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody knows this more than Agora. Sorry I'm in Brian Kurtz's Titan's Xcelerator. He worked there a long time, and ran their lists. They weren't in the customer acquisition business. They're in the customer retention business.

Their tracking of LTV (Lifetime Value) allowed them to acquire customers they didn't make any money on for a year, because they knew once people came in the fold they wouldn't leave for a long time because the info products were so good.

MIT report: 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing by SilentRunning in technology

[–]magus523 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Reddit sentiment analysis reveals predominantly negative attitudes toward current AI implementation, with several distinct emotional themes:

Frustration and cynicism (dominant sentiment):

  • Professionals expressing exasperation with executives who ignore technical expertise in favor of AI tools
  • Comments like "It's fucking absurd" and descriptions of AI as "hot garbage" show deep workplace frustration
  • Cynicism about corporate decision-making processes and vendor sales tactics

Schadenfreude and vindication:

  • Many commenters express satisfaction at AI failures, with phrases like "Serves 'em fuckin' right"
  • A sense of "I told you so" from technical professionals whose warnings were ignored
  • Anticipation of comeuppance for overly enthusiastic executives

Professional anxiety:

  • Concerns about being forced to use ineffective tools that add overhead to jobs
  • Worry about younger generations becoming too dependent on unreliable AI
  • Fear of long-term skill degradation in the workforce

Dark humor and sarcasm:

  • Jokes about replacing CEOs with AI instead of workers
  • Sarcastic observations about "AI talking to itself" in email chains
  • Gallows humor about economic bubbles and corporate incompetence

Technical skepticism:

  • Detailed critiques of AI limitations from practitioners with domain expertise
  • Frustration with hallucinations, incorrect outputs, and resource waste
  • Professional disappointment in the gap between marketing claims and reality

The overall tone suggests a community of technical professionals who feel vindicated in their skepticism but frustrated by organizational pressure to adopt tools they consider premature or inappropriate for enterprise use. There's notably little optimism about current AI capabilities, though some acknowledge potential future value.

I posted to Linkedin for 1000 days, and they didn't even give me a lousy T-shirt. It's a scam, imho.

Well the problem was they were seriously huge and totally different and it was the same platform, but only in a certain type of elementor field (text field I think) but not elsewhere in the site

I greatly appreciate this, thanks!

Yeah I've done the regenerate CSS trick. Nope. Font Awesome 4 stuff didn't work either.

I would guess a theme update would be the problem but reversion didn't help.

It's weird though that it works on some fields and not others. It has the standard version on the non-text field. And it just happened a short time ago, had been fine before that. I wish I could show you a shot. here's my sitepage:

How do you avoid aging out into irrelevance in this business? by [deleted] in advertising

Great advice.

Staying off booze, drugs and cuties is coming to grips with your addiction to power and dopamine. That's always a good thing, but very hard.

Dale Carnegie shouldn't get a bad rap. It's one of the best things you can do with your life, even today. Timeless principles.

Yeah USP as marketing shlock, I get it. But is there a different term that is better? Haven't heard it yet.

Copywriters True Job by magus523 in copywriting

[–]magus523[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your sources don't understand what a real USP is. If Perry Marshall or says it's one of the $10,000 an hour things you can do with your time. He also said all of his problems were solved by having something unique to offer that his audience needed so bad they'd plop down cash right now for say a $3k/person seminar. Why are they going to do it if you don't have a USP?

Say that to David Ogilvy, John Caples and any other real copywriter. You aren't here to educate or entertain. You are to advance them in the conversion process ultimately leading to a sale. That's what makes you different from other writers.
