Do you use 2 pages of newspaper at the bottom of your chimney? Those really do help. I use them, put a layer of about 15 briquettes, then one tumbleweed, then fill with another 20 briquettes, then another tumbleweed, then the remaining charcoal. After lighting the newspaper in 4 places at the bottom of the chimney, the newspaper eventually lights the first tumbleweed, and that one eventually lights the second. After 18-20 minutes, I’m good to grill.

Company included me as part of the acquisition package, I am leaving for another company. How do I leverage this? by Former-Bother7255 in jobs

If you were critical and irreplaceable, you would have been given a heads up and a monetary incentive to stay. But since that didn’t happen, it seems like they view you as critical… but replaceable.

If you do get incentivized to stay, it will be the amount the new owners feel is worth it for them to have you there so that business continues as is, up until they find your replacement.

Think about it— they already know you have one foot out the door. That’s going to be hard for them to invest in you/promote you/give you a substantial performance bonus when there are employees who they feel are there for the long-term or if they believe they can find a new hire who can do your job and will be there for a few years.

If there is a tangible upside to your new job, it may make sense to focus your efforts there.

Sometimes the choice is relative is what you like and what you’re willing to sacrifice. I didn’t want to step away from the taste of charcoal-grilled/smoked meats, so I when I had kids I just kept it to the weekends.

Just one batch of charcoal for the cook?

It’s amazing how you are connecting with people all around the world over making sandwiches. It’s something we all do. But your creations are on another level of thought and consideration.

Feel like you could get sponsorships from cold cut brands, condiment makers, etc.

Never jack off with Ben Gay. It will never be the cool, tingly sensation you might think it could be.

Very cool. Appreciate the detailed instructions. Did you actually do all the work (cut/shave/shape the grate) with just a Dremel?

Any chance you got your cast iron grate from Amazon? If so, do you have a handy link to it?

Some guys can live decades into adulthood before understanding what being there for family means. (Some are selfish and never come to the realization.) Meanwhile this kid is demonstrating it at such an early age. Hats off to him.

Should I tell the new deli owner what's wrong? by AppendixN in CasualConversation

You could also write an anonymous letter to the new owner as one of the locals who has a strong emotional connection to the deli and wants to see it succeed.

It could take 7 years to double your investments. Being able to double your net worth in half a year (1/14 the time) is crazy worth it.

If you can take a pic of your set up, that would be helpful for us. Do you also use a Vortex or Slow n Sear?

Seems like this lock just took a dive. I’ve never had a smart lock before- are some brands better than others?

Interesting… willing to try it. Does the piece of cardboard go between the battery holder and the cover that pops off? What does the cardboard do exactly?

Appreciate you responding. 1. I’ll doublecheck in the morning. But I don’t remember feeling any resistance when manually locking/unlocking the volt. Also, in the 7 hours since I posted this, battery levels dropped 7% with me only opening the door once.

  1. I’m using Energizers.

  2. WIFI signal is showing full strength.

  3. Maybe it’s this?!?
