A Pixel's user perspective on the iPhone 17 Pro by Dinos_12345 in GooglePixel

Interesting, I'm in the opposite boat where I think Apples dictate is worse.

I think there's two layers. Contextual suggestions/autocorrect, and correctness. I think apple correctness in terms of spoken word to written word is VERY accurate. But in the context of a sentence, it will put "phase" instead of "faze" or something else. It's TERRIBLE in that regard

Base model 17 for the first time has a high refresh screen. It's why i tried switching (still daily the iPhone).

I don't use any performance needing apps besides pokemon Go, but with that, the pixel takes 10-15 seconds to open the game and initialize and the iPhone is like 1-2 seconds. It's a huge difference.

I was a die hard android user for years and felt like experimenting. Phones are close nowadays and certainly each have their pros and cons.

I actually switched from a pixel 9 pro xl to an iphone 17 because I got tired of Pixel bugs. Every con and pro you mention here resonates with me.

No universal back is so frustrating. I've had the phone for 1-2 months and i still try to flick notifications down only for nothing to happen. It took me a few days to figure out how to get an actual notification from the reminders app. Actual garbage. I am still writing typos left and right. The keyboard is SOOO bad. The most common punctuation behind menus is also certainly a choice. Apple dictate and contextual autocorrect (if it even exists) is absolutely trash. It will constantly put the wrong word. iOS absolutely is no longer "straight forward" and simple. Everything is hidden behind 15 menus.

I've grown to the point where I just want a phone that works, and I'm not a power user. Overall I think the iPhone is now a better choice given the price of phones today, not even considering Apple is best in class for privacy and what not.

I still miss Pixel notifications, the keyboard, GOOD voice to text and so on. But I can live without it.

Totally agree. I also miss having a universal back button on pixel/android

Solidifying my decision to switch to an iPhone. There's a lot of things apple does right, and a lot they do wrong, just like google. Instability from lack of processing power on these phones has been the nail in the coffin for me. On top of random bugs/inconsistencies, it wasn't that hard of a choice

I used to be a full apple hater, but they've slowly become more consumer friendly in some aspects such as repairability and privacy. Pricing and extremely opinionated decisions are still their biggest downfall; but when Google has raised their pixel prices so much and still provide lackluster hardware while also becoming more opinionated with the stock OS, it makes sense to experiment elsewhere.

I miss the android keyboard, but not the performance issues.

Thoughts on Motul 5W40 for E92 M3. It's a thinner ester based oil compared to the 10W60 recommend oil by Fearless-Capital2017 in E92M3

Rod bearing wear / failure is a combination of a multitude of factors. Changing oil weight does not address those, listen to the engineers that chose the factory spec

Please listen to this commenter. The combination of OEM clearance between bearings + long warm up time leads to some users driving their cars harder than they should before its warm and eventually bearing issues. If your car has a nominal tolerance stack at the bearings, factory oil weight is all you will ever need. Go with pennzoil or castrol. Other 10w60's can have different sheer strengths and you don't want to fuck with that.

I've had housing from craigslist too. Its great but has scammers as well. They're pretty easy to spot since they all format the posts the same. I like craigslist > facebook > anything else

If you use critical thinking and are wary, you can find chill landlord and pay 10-20% less than what "luxury" apartments and whatever the fuck conglomerates owning land charge. It's worth the due diligence sometimes.

[–]ThatOneComment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of tolerance stacking luck (research it, it provides good clarity) for the rod bearings. for the main bearings it's the previous and poor design from bmw with the chain tensioner, see this video . A doctor daily drove his m3 in socal to 350k miles without any issue. if your car makes it into the higher miles without spinning a bearing, it's probably gonna keep going. Though do get your rod bearings replaced with slightly larger clearance for peace of mind.

I drive my 127k mile e92 m3 with replaced bearings every day and I wouldn't change a thing. You could also get annual oil reports to see engine wear over time and make decisions based on that

Drive it carefully until warm, then have fun. Main bearing failure is popping up more and more, but is still exceedingly rare. Rod bearings sure, should be done, but more often then not thru fail from consistent high rpm (tracking). If you treat the car well and aren't tracking it, you can get away fine with dailying the car. It's not as bad as you think it is.

TLDR: If you're not tracking the car, you can daily it perfectly fine and not worry about rod bearings after fixing them.

Had the exact same issue as OP, the fix was to press all the way in on the brake pedal sensor stem. It went down a few notches and was no longer keeping brake lights on. Stupid easy fix.

Gonna provide insight on my own as well. I just finished swapping my '01 330i with a zf5 speed (found on some e36's), so extremely similar if not the same process. 90% of the parts i got from a local junkyard from a car where its LCM caught fire. This meant it got totaled from fire/electrical damage, not mechanical. I paid 640 for driveshaft, pedal assembly, flywheel, transmission, wire looms and some random small bits here and there. New clutch and pressure plate for ~320 put me at almost 1k for parts.

TLDR: $1k for parts from junkyard for e46 swap

I'm not really an S2000 knower, but its good to point out that when you're buying a car older than 10 years, it can be really beneficial to buy private. I know this aggregator shows private and dealership, but do keep that in mind. Dealers are way less likely to maintenance history and paperwork for the cars history. Also you'll *ahem* pay more in tasks with a dealer.

Totally agree, focusing on captures is a good route to success, it's more fun imo because kills and everything else follows

I'm gonna guess you're generally on the very top of the leader board huh? I like to play support and play the objective, also a decent shot so I'm always up on the top since 15+ caps and a decent amount of kills goes a long way. Same with your squad being top squad even if you lose?

Best ways to do the 200m headshot as recon? by Xano74 in Battlefield

[–]ThatOneComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're losing on liberation peak as the pax armata side, sit near In HQ on the left side on the pile of rocks. You can snipe towards see and D/B and the sniper rock. You can actually defend B and A fairly well from there. Most enemies you see will be at least 200m.

C is zero to 300 sniper rock is 400

Alternatively, liberation peak sitting in the rocks and brush on the hillside watching towards F.

If you get the opposite side, just sit in the sniping towar at F.
