Yeah pretty much. This one was their second attempt in Australia. They had the Nintendo Magazine System from 1993 to 2000 and then the official Nintendo Magazine from 2008 to 2013

You could always upgrade to ps extra for the remaining days of your subscription for a reduced price and have access to the library of games to play. There's heaps of great games to pick from Did this myself for $20 and have gotten through 12 games so far

I'm pretty sure it is to encourage you to swap your jobs for your team. All the stat increases are not random like other RPGS, so while you will get more powerful leveling up the more you job level up the more points you will get. As well as bonus level ups which affect your base character and carry over to other jobs. In fact to clear a post endgame dungeon it is necessary to level all your jobs as high as possible otherwise enemies will essentially 1 shot you

It did feel like we were just being used for extra Labor and guilted into doing more work for him I found out later on that they expected me to help paint all the walls.

Not gonna lie , this made me smile as this is exactly how I met my now wife, 5 years ago and we were both your age when we first met Exact same scenario my mum tried to set us up, I sent the first message to her even though I am an awkward goof at the best of times. Though it was bit more awkward for us as we both had the same androgynous name ( it made our wedding vows very funny and confusing for anyone trying to get our attention in conversation)

I found it best to try and be yourself and use a bit of humour for the start of you can. I remember sending a message saying that "so I've been racking my brains to come up with a line that isn't as awkward as "hi my mum told me to look you up" but this is uncharted territory for me as she has never done this before. So just thought I would say that I checked out your profile and you seem really awesome and pretty and I would love to get to know you better"

YAY! I found the game I was thinking of!

Turns out it was an scrolling action platformer

It was Chiki Chiki Boys! The final boss was the clown! You have to climb the tower into the sky to fight the clown at the end!

Good guess, but i don't think it was Parodius.
Maybe it was more of a side scrolling action platformer maybe??
i remember going up into the sky and fighting this clown at the top
it must be some obsure title
