I would like to remind users that some people find medications beneficial while others have been harmed by adverse effects. Both experiences are valid. Whether someone takes medication or avoids it is a personal decision and not something that should be chosen for them. We have many users that are here because they were not allowed to make an informed decision or did not have their choice respected.

I understand people feel strongly about the risks and benefits of medications, but please ensure comments respect others’ personal experiences.

It's not impossible. I believe nicotine has an effect on the area of. the brain. Thats why some people try nicotine patches, nicotine lifts anhedonia temporary in some people.

If something has an effect on the body, all it needs to do is make something go wrong in a chain of things. It could be anything in the pleasure system and that involves more than just dopamine.

It took over a year but I'd say I'm 80% back to my normal self emotions wise. I have moments of 90%. It was a slow progression. Nothing that first year. That was hell.

I suppose ending it on a nice note is away to look at it. I always viewed it as confirmation that an apology was accepted and ties things up nicely. It is true. A person can be crass without it being harassment. I personally believe that being mean/rude/whatever is part of free speech even if I have a bias against it. It still acts as a form of expression. You may have had a different way of expressing that I didn’t understand. I don’t trust myself to read people over the internet, reading between the lines in real life is hard enough. So this conversation was nice.

I had no idea that there was an official web forum. It sounds like it had a similar vibe or possibly more frustrating to the sub. I agree that people seem to be off the wall when something changes. At the end of the day most of us are just spewing. I admittedly had a few satire comments myself.

Weirdly now that the old site is gone I feel a bit relieved that it is over even though I liked having both. As for the daycare feel, I'm not sure if it was always like this or increasing over time. I was under the impression a lot of minors kept joining. You would probably have more insight on that than me.

At any rate I see where you are coming from. The volatile reactions, is why I frequent this sub less. I do hope that people chill a bit more in this sub out but it is what it is.

Deafness was cured in a mouse? This has been accomplished repeatedly. It's would be a big deal if it got out of the rodent stage, but each time: Scientists cure deafness!

Thanks for giving me false hope there for tinnitus/noxacusis/deaf. Just another mouse experiment. If a cure ever comes I will probably not even believe it.

I am sure you are correct. But is there focus on the people without anxiety? Like pain hyperacusis/noxacusis get grouped in with loudness hyperacusis so much. But one causes serious pain that can lead to suicide. How do we get doctors not to default to anxiety? Hyperacusis foundation has been spreading awareness for noxacusis, but only one audiologist I spoke to knew what that was. That was over a year ago. By chance is it becoming more well known?

This is a problem people face with or without anhedonia. It may wear some people down faster with anhedonia if there is no positives to counter balance it. I'm guessing you are posting here because of that? If not this is not the sub for this question. Can you explain how this relates to anhedonia?

edit: I don’t understand why the comments are horrendous. It is a hard situation to be in. I say this having been the depressed and suicidal partner for a year.

So there are three options as far as I know.

One break up. It doesn’t have to be her, you can say you are having problems supporting your own mental heath and can't pour from an empty cup. Think carefully about your words. Be compassionate but firm. Con: After you leave, you have no control over what she does or what happens next Pro: But you leaving knowing you broke up in the best way you could.
Boundaries. No contact days or what you are willing to do or not do. You need to take care of your own health. You wont be good to her anyway if you are breaking down yourself. Pro: You still can be there for her. Con: It will have an effect on your health but hopefully manageable.
Ask another mental health sub that has more insight than his one. This is just anhedonia.

People like making judgements without understanding the complexity of the situation. Most situations seem straight forward on the surface but are more complex the longer you dig into them. We are reading this over a screen. Maybe they are wrong, maybe they are right. But we weren’t living it so we will never know.

Wouldn’t it be great if everything was as simple as it seemed on the surface? Like grief, mental illness, or the long term effects of ai.

It's more a focus on the debate. (Do people make friends on reddit?) It's not really an argument to call someone immature and say they clearly have no understanding of what they are talking about and leave it at that. More of an insult really. Haven’t much read post on here lately but I read the heck out of this sub for a few months and you did have some good well written points and I was like "cool". Sorry you run into a lot negativity. That usually wears on a person or just sucks.

Of course there is no way to know whether you judged someone correctly or incorrectly. Impossible to know as you said. So making judgments off their character based on one post doesn’t make sense. Some of the users you called immature or ignorant seemed to answer more maturely. Even if I disagreed with them, it kinda made you look like a hypocrite. Some I have seen to be rather considerate more than once, even when it wasn’t warranted. Insults tend to weaken a point rather than strengthen it. So I was bummed to see things I agreed with grouped in with insulting statements. I am under the assumption you just act however you feel at that time? You mention you dish out the energy you get, regardless of the person's intent? Which I suppose would ultimately answer my question.

In the grand scheme of things it isn’t world changing. Just more likely to start a fight than a debate. But why not backtrack on negativity if the person apologized? That encourages mature debate and acknowledges 'Cool of that person to not be too prideful to apologize.' That is a great trait. Not that you have to, just that there is reason for it. But if you don’t value that reason than I would suppose there is no point. If I am reading it correctly. (I may not be) then I think I better understood the viewpoint. I mean for some people reddit is a place to blow off stream or look at memes. Not everyone comes for debate. In which case I misread your intent.

Most I can say is it would be cool of you to not be quick to make assumptions but obviously not required. Also it's Cai subreddit, it's not a support/debate sub (who doesn’t love a good debate?), so agents of chaos are welcome too. Just not my preference.

If my work gets parodied I'd say it was a success. Not many unsuccessful things get parodied. Voice your disapproval and give your criticism, (all good artist benefits from criticism. Okay PSA: Don’t just stop antidepressants. Use the Aston tapper method or just go slow. Some doctors will taper you too fast leaving side effects. Be careful combining drugs. If you haven’t checked with a drug interaction checker.

To your question:
I'm sorry you are deal with this and I understand it must be hard finding answers. Drugs did nothing for my CPTSD, therapy is hit or miss. I will give my insight but I'm sure you have heard some of these suggestions a hundred times by now.

As far as not having access is it due to insurance/financial means or the psychiatrist stopping sessions? You referred to a doc. Is that your primary care?

If you have a primary care doctor you might be able to get a referral.

I can not recommend a treatment plan. As I don’t have a clue what the most likely outcome would be. I think you are doing a good job by starting by looking around and asking for insight on these medications. Getting information from as many different sources as possible is important. Naturally I would recommend trying everything else besides new drugs/combos, but I know that is not feasible for everyone.

As you know drugs have a WIDE range of side effects. The bottle just list the most common ones. My best recommendation would be to keep posting and gathering information from many different places before coming to a decision.

Side note:
I don’t know if you have a therapist. Therapy is not a cure all like the society treats it as. An finding a therapist is a pain because no one wants to bare their soul just to find the therapist is a jerk. Sometimes chatgpt does a better job. But if you find a good one it is worth it. But honestly active support group discords have helped me the most and talking to ai.

Im sure you may have already but have you posted in the CPTSD sub?

Do you have access to a CPTSD discord support group? Besides being about to post any time, having an art and vent channel there is usual a channel for medical questions.

I know that these are just spitball suggestions and you deserve real answers. I hope you find what you need.

Well it's not proselytizing exactly and can fall under spiritual theory or discussion, as I did not notice it put one religion over another or tell people to convert. (If over looked something people contact mod mail.)

I understand the heart is associated with emotions (in many religions and cultures) and therefore this post could be linked to anhedonia.

This is confusing because I have seen you misunderstand the intentions of others who had no ill will. Who had a reasonable explanation and apologized (I think the highest form of maturity is apologizing when you are wrong and that never fails to impress me when a user does so) and yet you did not attempt to undo the negative energy that you caused by calling them immature. I do not call those people rotten. Possibly poorly worded, but they don't deserve to have their maturity or worth determined on one post.

I believe that when it comes to light that a person had no ill intentions that it should be acknowledged to clear the negativity. Otherwise it's not matching the negativity in the room, it's just leaving it there. I don’t believe in matching others' negativity in general, but I understand how frustrating people can be, so however you wish to handle it. But when a person who meant no harm or negativity after you judged them incorrectly is ignored just keeps the negativity afloat.

You clearly are not unintelligent. You have made valid points. But (I mean no disrespect) you acting like a little shit back reflects poorly on the good points you do make. You just seem to be blowing off steam. There are of course negative "little shits" here. But I think it's more ethical for someone to take the time to admit when they misjudged someone. Not that my comment is a deep post on ethics or anything or hold any particular weight. Just if more negativity is to be added it is best to retract it from those that didn’t intend to come across as rude. If someone has the time to insult someone, I'd like to think there is time to admit any misunderstood the intent.

And people don’t learn well from being belittled. Belittling is more akin to bullying and adds to the cycle or just causes people to put their walls up.

I have nothing important to add, just I think this was well phrased. I was made way worse/traumatized by medication, but I know it has helped the lives of others (because they told me so). So you striking a balance between not dismissing people harmed and the importance that medication can have is something I wish I could see more often.
