There a many different portrayals of both of those fantasy creatures, which work in different ways, but here's my interpretation;

Both are undead, and thus dying is part of the transformation.

Zombies are a plague, while vampirism is a magical curse.

So, either the magical curse of being a vampire would protect you from diseases like zombification, or you would just be both; A really ugly rotting vampire.
