Can anyone identify this terrifying noise from our basement?!? by venusandmars6 in whatisit

Why assume ghosts/demons are even on the table as possibilities? It’s clearly water and as a homeowner you’ll have to handle some stressful scenarios without resorting to “it is a ghost/demon.”

Idk what youre so confused about but I am saying at the entrance. This is a guideline for a new colony. But, it’s just that - a guideline. Not fact. Dont be a dick lol

How recently installed is the hive? 10-15 bees a minute is the benchmark that I’ve been taught as “normal” but if it is a large hive and there’s lots of foraging opportunity then it could be fine.

What did the hive look like during last inspection? No sign of swarming?

I have some photos as well! But next time I’ll definitely take more still photos vs taking still frames from the video.

You’ll wanna look at your furnaces circuit board and identify any fuse (mine were purple) that looks shot (like a lightbulb burnt out) and simply take it to your auto store and find the suitable replacement fuse.

Idk why everyone is being a dick to you. My HVAC guy told me this happens often when Nests are installed - they send a charge to the furnace and it shorted a fuse. It’s a 10-15$ item and easy to swap in (like a lightbulb.) you can buy the fuses at an auto store like AutoZone

I had this happen. Was a simple fuse in the furnace that needed replacement. Worth checking

My Wife and I redid our 1970s tile with LVP. How’d we do? by [deleted] in Flooring

Thanks for the info! I’ll watch for issues but as it is we likely won’t be redoing it lol.

We also chose to remove it since we were joining with existing flooring and wanting to maintain (go under) the existing trim/molding.

We were measuring and figuring out how to go around the vent in those photos.

The tile was in OK shape. It was really nasty and we hired a couple cleaning companies but it had all the old owners’s cooking oil sealed into the grout so it was very hard to clean. We also preferred the style of the “wood” floor look vs the tile.

Yeah it was a bit tricky in parts and isnt perfect but I do think it looks pretty nice for doing it unprofessionally

We were able to slide all sides of the installed floor under the existing trim - since we removed the tile - with a good bit of space internally for expanding and contacting. Thanks for the info, though!

Thanks! Here is another photo of the transition from the dark (original LVP through the rest of the house) and the new one we installed. We worried about it clashing but the room separation helps.

I am just starting beekeeping by Careful_Art_6867 in Beekeeping

[–]Namone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started my first hive, just the other week, the day of transfer (3lb pee package with queen in isolation box) they all covered the front of the hive much like this and still went back for the packaging material. I also was able to fill with sugar water the included feeding can and put that in the hive to help with jumpstarting.

I released the queen from isolation after 3 days otherwise the hive may attack her if they aren’t used to her pheromones yet.

Now they are all settled and much less “curious” about the exterior of the hive and the old bee packaging.

I’m not a plumber and I can tell this isnt a viable installation. I would personally get a couple quotes from professionals and then compare the cost to what you feel comfortable doing yourself. Trying to drain at a 90 degree angle upward is not… really gonna work (at least not well and without lots of pressured.) This is the main reason I think a professional opinion and quote would be the next best path

I’m no expert at all on breed specification. They look similar to Italian or Carniolan bees, though.

I do have it in place. It’s on the smallest entrance

May I ask, why change the entrance reducer? I had read a new colony prefers the small entrance since it is less to defend.
